The Daniels Building at the University of Toronto designed by NADAAA embodies a holistic approach to urban design and sustainability. It presented a case where problems of pedagogy came face to face with a physical environment that is inhabited and tested daily by an audience of experts, critics, teachers, practitioners, and students, the very protagonists of the medium. Thus, the building was designed to become a pedagogical tool, integrated into the curriculum with both sustainable/design elements and school programs on display both to students and the public. We are happy to announce our third issue! Through our usual playful and theoretical approach, opens clues to the question "What’s an Object?"

Like in the iconic US quiz show Jeopardy!, giving answers in the form of questions is a way of going beyond common sense, cheating facts, or serious categories. It changes perspective and opens the game. The 240-page volume gathers tales of entanglements, reenactments, and recollections. It features architecture offices MOS and PRODUCTORA, design studio Stephen Burks Man Made, Brazilian architect Carla Juçacaba, Berlin-based architect and artist Sarah Entwistle, and many more. It spiritedly explores objects through articles such as Timothy Morton feeling the present in conversation with Florencia Rodriguez, Martin Cobas rifling through Lina Bo Bardi’s cabinets, and Penelope Dean bringing tables to the foreground.

Curated by Lukas Feireiss, curator, artist, and author working across disciplinary boundaries, Tatjana Schneider, professor of architectural theory at TU Braunschweig, and TheGreenEyl, translator of complex themes into large-scale installations and exhibitions, the exhibition Living the City tells over fifty stories from architecture, art, and city planning projects in the main hall of the former Berlin-Tempelhof Airport. What emerges is the way these stories are often simultaneous, contradictory, overlapping, and inextricably connected. The exhibition is closed until November 30th due to pandemic regulations but, fortunately, you can also experience it virtually. Read more at nessmagazine.com
