Hard to believe but next week, The Persuaders celebrates 25 years on-air, making it Ireland's longest running business show. If nothing else it shows resiliance on my part. I've really enjoyed the huge opportunity the show has presented me to develop new connections, even friendships, and to make a contribution to the marketing sector's knowledge base. I'll be doing a couple of 'specials' to celebrate in the next couple of weeks - if you'd like to take part, or just leave a message/reflection here that would be great.

On this week's show I got a chance to bring John Trainor back to reflect on how the sponsorship landscape in Ireland has changed in the past year. John's consultancy Onside Sponsorship has recently published its annual Irish Sponsorship Industry Report. In the podcast he discusses many of the themes from the report.

The sponsorship industry has seen growth annually on a global and local stage. That is, until 2020. The shock to the industry(including a 24% hit on sponsorship spend in Ireland) from the Covid-19 pandemic has highlighted inefficiencies, brought about incredible change, and heralded in an era of innovation.

In this podcast John Trainor discusses the uncovers macro trends and quantified changes in sponsors' and rights holders' plans that he anticipates will be at the forefront of the global and local industry in the coming year.
