People of the Light unveil Perpetual Gruv EP, a record that marks a faithful return to the labels deep house roots, an offering of 7 tracks of absolute heat that marks Marcus Watkins' debut on the label. Hailing from Chicago’s rich lineage of dance music innovation, Watkins crafts three original cuts in Club Detroit, Soul Revival, and When I Fly Towards You. A trio that pulse's with a timeless blend of groove and soul. With warm chords, hypnotic bass, keys that keep you moving and reverent nods to the legends before him, Watkins packages his deeper sound into a truly contemporary narrative.
One of the hallmarks of a POTL release is often the remixes and the package as a whole, this time we have Myles Sergé adding depth to the package, the ever-elusive artist steps up with his Naked Parts Remix of Soul Revival, distilling it into a stripped-back, darker meditation that cuts straight to the floor. Label boss Jay Hill brings her own flavour with her distinct D’Lite version of Club Detroit: a deep-rolling extended reworking for late-night escapades, with Jay's uniquely chunky groove. Tartiflux is a versatile mini-LP that weaves together many of Margee’s musical influences—downtempo grooves, 90s disco beats, organic house, and acid breaks—into a unique, eclectic sound. Organic textures guide the overall tone, ensuring that the groove remains at the heart of every track.
On the A side, the title track "Tartiflux" takes listeners on a progressive, groovy, and downtempo journey with deep bass, sizzling pads, and distorted guitar sections. It features a remix by NYC legend Justin Strauss, who adds a punchy, rhythmic flair alongside additional productions by W. Andrew Raposo of Midnight Magic.
The B side presents a dynamic lineup, starting with "Help Myself," a vocal disco-house anthem with an energetic rhythm, crisp drums, and punchy vocal chops. Based out of San Francisco, Federsen and his Alt Dub imprint are known as purveyors of
all things raw and intricate in the world of Dub Techno, holding the beacon and
championing the sound, introducing new artists and featuring highly respected figures
from the scene also. This new various artist package promotes exactly that.
Taking the lead is the widely revered cv313, the Detroit based dub powerhouse delivers his
signature sound with ‘Spectral Vector’ via hazy field recordings, textural noise,
modulating percussion and spiralling dub echoes all subtly nuanced throughout its nine
minute duration. Hidden Sequence’s ‘Azteca’ follows, picking up the energy levels
courtesy of swinging organic percussion, bubbling echoes, reverberated stab sequencing
and oscillating resonant synth flutters.
Opening the B-Side is Fletcher’s ‘A Distant Place’, an eight and a half minute excursion
through soft, dream like chimes, twitchy synth tones, a heavily swung rhythm section and
subtly nuanced structure. Sydney’s Taction then concludes the release with ‘Caesious’,
employing trickling water sounds, ethereal, expansive pads, pulsating subs and reduced
percussion.

DJ Sodeyama returns to Sound Of Vast under his The People In Fog guise this June with the nine track ‘Too Much K***s And Cables’ LP.
Over the past three decades DJ Sodeyama has been a staple in Japan’s underground and beyond across the globe as a DJ and releasing material under his own name via the likes of Radio Slaves’ Rekids, Dynamic Reflection, Nina Kraviz’ трип and more. Here though, he makes a welcome return under his The People In Fog alias to Tokyo’s Sound Of Vast, the platform that’s played host to all of his material under this alias as well as others like The Mole, Shinichiro Yokota, San Proper and more.
Across the nine-track ‘Too Much K***s And Cables’ LP, The People In Fog once again radiantly showcases his depth and understanding of true underground sounds. From the classic Deep House aesthetic of opener ‘Red Morning’, ‘CC Love’ and ‘New Life’ to more classic Chicago House inspired cuts like ‘Animal Kingdom’, ‘Jack Out’ and filtered Disco house jams like ‘Dance To The Air’, ‘New Life’ and ‘Miraval’.
Sodeyama also dives deeper beyond House once again in true long player fashion to deliver the unique 80’s tinged, funk-infused and vintage synth/drum machine laced ‘Night Driver’ and the cinematic closing piece ‘Sun Moon Lake’, which leans into a Balearic sonic world via drifting guitar melodies, arpeggios, acid licks and a
crunchy rhythm section.

London-based Bengoa has grown to become a household name in the underground
House scene on his home turf and beyond, offering up a steady stream of raw,
sophisticated records on his B2 imprint while also welcoming the likes of Brawther,
Larry Heard, UC Beatz, DJ Rocca and Lex among other internationally respected
artists onto its roster. Here we see the story continue with some fresh material, the
lead track welcomes MIMI x FY, fellow resident DJ’s from Moni club in Mykonos.
Bengoa featuring MIMI x FY’s title-track ‘I Won’t Love You’ opens the EP, a hypnotic
slice of dub house driven by bubbling stab sequences, crisp drums, breathy spoken
word vocal lines and fluttering resonant synth licks. ‘Bibi’s Funk’ follows and. Leans
further into dub territory courtesy of soft, spiralling stabs, oscillating noise sweeps
and swinging drums, all underpinned by a weight sub bass groove.
‘Listen’ then kicks off the B-Side with robust 808 drums, squelchy acid tones,
tension building sweeps and heavily delayed chords and vocal chops. Lastly ‘Exiles’
concludes the release, taking a deep dive into ethereal pad textures, delayed brass
melodies, jazzy keys, haunting synth melodies and raw, reduced drums.
