We need your support. Purchasing Mute magazine print archives will help pay for expensive web server maintenance that needs carrying out.

Mute has maintained its own digital sovereign web server infrastructure for thirty years with its publishing free to read. It costs money to run and currently we have to carry out a set of machine replacements as various software have reached their ‘end of life’ or are not maintainable.

Help us stay on the web for another thirty years!

30 years ago today Mute magazine launched it's Pilot issue. It was 30th November 1994 in Shoreditch London. The location was next door to the gallery Factual Nonsense. Joshua Compston, the gallery director, blagged us the venue. It was an empty old telephone exchange that was about to become Shoreditch's first hip regen bar - The Canteloup. The Mute crew had spent countless sleepless night getting the mag ready and a spine tingling day at the Financial Times press with the pilot issue squeezed in as an print job before the Nikei paper had to take over the press. We had a 40 minute slot. Thank you to all who made the launch possible, and all who came after and shared in making the dream possible. Onwards and up. Roll call: Pauline van Mourik Broekman, Simon Worthington, Anne McCreary, Daniel Jackson, Tina Spear. And Daughter of Lilith (the computer), and Bimbo anf Befje (the black cats)

Sending out some complete sets of the Mute magazine archive issues. That's 16kg boxed up, 52 issues, plus some bonus books, maps, and ephemera. More sets going out today too. Pink pic is #11 - check the die cut stencil cover, the poor printers really regretted agreeing to job.
