I wrote an iteration of this message on the cusp of my 40th birthday. For me, turning 40 was like crossing a threshold without an adequate flashlight. I could tell things were changing, but I had no idea of the health adventures that I would encounter in midlife. Fast forward to being (much) closer to 50 and the urge to rewrite this pledge has been strong. What changed? The last line. In the earlier version, it was more like "We can do anything!" And while the empowerment still feels relevant, the reminder of partnering with my body is ever more powerful. We're in this together - with ourselves and ideally, within our communities. What can you do today that will remind your body of your commitment to partnership with it?

This truth bomb came from a recent coaching call with a Pilates pro who, like many of us, is navigating the frustration that hits as we get older: 'Wait — I'm better at my job than ever, but you doubt me because I don't have the body of a 20-year-old?'

UGH. The fitness industry often reveres youth over experience. But here's the thing: what we may perceive as a decline in outward appearance, we more than compensate for in wisdom, insight, and a deep understanding of our craft.

Experience has immense value. It allows us to create deeply transformative experiences for our clients. It's not just about guiding them through exercises; it's about understanding their needs on a deeper level, tailoring sessions to their individual journeys, and making a real difference in their lives.

Aging isn't a setback; it's evidence of mastery. It represents years of dedication, countless lessons learned, and the profound impact we've had on our clients. True excellence isn't defined by how old we are, but by the passion and wisdom we bring to our work every single day.
