What would a TTRPG about rocks look like?

That was the question that inspired A Perfect Rock: and imagining rocks as planets was my answer.

I ended up researching lots of rocks from naturalists books from the 1800s, and you can see that influence throughout my art and layout design.

So, which of these rocks do you think would make the best planet? Play A Perfect Rock and find out!

So many planets, but were any of them perfect?

Thank you to for hosting the launch party for A Perfect Rock!

Thank you to everyone who came and made strange planets!

And thank you to my daughter and Prof. Matthew Perras at Trent University for letting us use their amazing rock collections!

Such a fun event, and I really appreciate everyone who came to support my work.

There are 14 different stars (and strange anomalies) to explore in A Perfect Rock, but you won't see them all in a single game.

I have a couple reasons I love using maps when I play TTRPG or storytelling games:

1. They create wonderful table presence, and help you feel like *you* are the person on the journey.

2. They encourage player discussion: do you travel towards the Alien homeworld, or the black hole? What matters more to your people?

3. It's fun to imagine what all the little details are. What's in the void? Why is that probe missing? How do you even *travel* to that strange interdimensional collision?

What stars and secrets will you explore on your journey? Play A Perfect Rock and find out.

There are 3 reasons why you collect keepsakes from each planet in A Perfect Rock:

1. You might be a rock collector in real life, but what does your explorer collect? Keepsakes are a fun way to show your explorer's interests, and collecting things from deadly planets is always a surprise.

2. Most of the worldbuilding happens at the planet level, but keepsakes let you zoom in. What unexpected detail does your explorer notice when they look closely?

3. It's a more personal way to remember the planets you explore. Writing down the planet's name is fine, but having a little Aether Fox hypnotizing your crew will definitely help you remember their strange world.

What keepsakes will you find? Play A Perfect Rock and find out!

Interstellar was a huge touchstone for A Perfect Rock.

It inspired the core question of the game (which planet will be your new home?), the supermassive black hole you can visit (imagine that was your sun??), and a little wormhole mechanic found its way in too.
