Okay I am stepping up on my soap box.
We have felt that the HP fandom is great and we always want to be here to support or help anyone that we can. We want others to feel comfortable coming here to talk HP and make friends.
Having said that, the two things we ask others to keep out of our page is politics and religions. This is one sure way to upset or start arguments; that is the only reason we ask that it not be discussed here.
Yesterday something was said by our beloved author that has really upset the fandom and has really created many loud voices. I first want to say that we FULLY and COMPLETELY support our LGBT community. I will delete any messages that hurtful or slamming against the LGBT.
I am hoping that like many things that are typed and not said in person was just taken wrong and was taken in a way she was not expecting, but right now we have no way of knowing if that is true. The reason that I am saying anything at all is because I have seen many of the fans saying how hurt, upset, disappointed and sad they are because of something that she said.
Harry Potter has been there for many people...it has help so many when it was needed and to hear that people are willing to let the outside views of the author get in the way of the feel for the books honestly crushes me.
I miss the days of the old when it was hard to find out personal information about famous people or even authors. Their views or how they lived their lives had no baring on the thing they did that you loved. I encourage everyone to remember how they felt when they first read the books or watched the movies without any outside influences.
Harry Potter was there for us in the past and he will be there for us in the future. Feelings may be hurt, people may be upset, but Harry Potter has not changed.
The outside voice and opinion of someone, even the one who created it, does not change the memories, meaning, or reasons you fell in love with whatever it was they created. If it was home for you once, it can still be home to you because she may have made it and the people within it, but the fans are also what made that home have life and warmth. Don't let that be taken away.
We love you all and we love Harry Potter!
