You’ve ordered a Pizza Machine?
🍕🍕🍕

Is what I said to my husband Steve last week
Steve makes the best Pizzas using our oven
I doughted the machine could make them better
It’s safe to say I was wrong…

The Darlek looking thing arrived on Thursday
Just in time for Pizza night on Friday
Steve had a lot to prove (not just in dough terms)
He actually read the instructions, a first in our house!

With anticipation we pre-heated the new vessel
Once it reached 420 °C the first pizza went in
Peering through the lid we were on tenterhooks
Will it burn the edges, will it taste as good?

The Pizza was fabulous! Better than ever!
And the cooking time reduced to just 5 minutes
So, Steve got more time to chill with a cold drink
Hurrah for the Pizza Machine!

I can now see the benefits…

On Saturday evening we had dinner with friends and an animated conversation about AI taking over (and taking jobs).

So, it was nice to see this email when I started back at work this week...

May has been a great month

This time 2️⃣0️⃣ years ago…

I was starting a career I love
Writing, producing, voicing
If you told me back then
Today I’d be living in France
Still doing what I love
I would have said “No way!”

Along the journey so far
It's been such an adventure
& I have become a collector
Not of possessions or things
But rather randomly of...
Steves!

I met my Husband Steve in 1998 (ish)
Started work with UK Producer Steve 2005
Married Husband Steve 2010
Started work with AU Producer Steve 2020
Started work with Music Producer Steve 2025

Still happily married to Husband Steve
Still working with Producer Steves
All excellent characters...
Reliable, genuine, interesting...
& brilliant at what they do!

If I could tell my younger self
Something in 3 words it would be…
“Believe in Steve!”
Everyone needs a Steve...
Or 4 if you’re a Steve fanatic like me.

Feeling adventurous?

As I’m getting wiser (not older)
I like to spend my time doing things I love
Which means getting out in the fresh air
Being close to nature and water…
That’s what floats my boat (so to speak)

So, I was thrilled to voice this gem for Tees Barrage…
The home of adventure in the North East!
White water rafting, paddleboarding, canoeing, kayaking
Sounds like a perfectly exhilarating day out!

Reconnecting after 20 years…
👋

Last week I flew back to Manchester to visit friends and family.
We had a jam-packed itinerary and made the most of every second.
We spent time with our Mums, Dads, family and friends…
Then on our last evening, I went to a Great Gatsby party with my Mum.

The highlight was watching my 80 year-young Mum dance with her mates…
My Mum’s made a good friend over the last year or so who is fabulous.
While chatting at the party, we realised we used to work in the same field.
We were both working in radio advertising back in the noughties.

I thought about where she used to work and it suddenly dawned on me…
I used to write and produce the radio adverts my Mum’s friend used to sell.
We nearly fell off our chairs when we realised we knew each other very well.
But the strangest thing is...

It was My Mum who helped me find my way to working in Radio.
And 20 years later, me who helped Mum find her new happy place to live…
Where her new best friend (my old work pal) happens to live across the road.
Happy coincidence or fate?

Whatever it is, from 2006 to 2026 I'm glad we reconnected!

I'm in the advanced stages ..of waiting

The jobs are booked
I know when I’m needed
But, it’s not today!

After all these freelance years
I still feel naughty leaving my desk
To do something other than work

Words I was delighted to hear on Monday!

No 2 weeks are ever the same in my work.
Some Mondays all I see is tumbleweeds
Others are busy from start to finish
This Monday thankfully was the latter
A day of interesting & different jobs

My final task was to perform magic
Taking a piece of imperfect audio
Turning it into something perfect
This was for a new client “Steve”
Who I’m pleased to say is now a regular

Those nifty skills you learn over time
Do come in handy sometimes.
So, thanks Steve as my Grandad used to say…
“You’ve made my day!”
