In this January, you can enjoy “Ohayo Encounter with Minipiano” (MUSIS04) in All Nippon Airways (ANA) international flights. It will be really nice that a lot of people will get to know the beautiful sounds of Japanese historical cute pianos made by KAWAI etc.. Please enjoy the world of minipianos restored by PIANOPIA, and played by Naruhiko Kawaguchi! And thank you for Yu Takagi from Takagiklavier to introduce the CD.

Streaming of “Ohayo Encounter with Minipiano“ (MUSIS04) by Naruhiko Kawaguchi has been started from this summer, thanks for Naxos Japan!! Please enjoy the precious sounds of the Minipianos made by KAWAI and Nippon Gakki in the early days of the Japanese piano culture. The instruments were restored by PIANOPIA.

［MUSIS04 Ohayo Encounter with Minipiano (おはよう ミニピアノとの出会い)］

Do you know “Minipiano”? It is a rare piano originally made in Japan in the early 20th century. It is different from a toy piano because it has one string attached to each note, and the hammer strikes the string. In a sense, it is a real piano that is just reduced in size.

Today MUSIS announces that a very exciting Minipiano CD by Naruhiko Kawaguchi will be released on 15th December! Here are words from him in the boooklet↓

“There are a variety of reasons that inspired my motivation for recording this CD: I wanted to let as many people as possible know about the interesting Japanese culture of old days; to promote the idea that the minipiano could exist not just as a “piano for children," but as a unique instrument that serves artistic purposes; and to take historical pianos that are unique to Japan more seriously as a period instrumentalist myself.

There are a total of 35 pieces carefully selected for this recording. It was fun to explore the world of musical works that could only be depicted by the minipiano.”
