I have been very busy working so I have not had time to post anything really. I’ll catch up on stuff I have been working on once I get some downtime.

Thanks for all the new people who followed this page

I’m more active on instagram as it’s easier to post what I work on there

Leapwing LimitOne notes

I don’t review a lot of plugins really and only if I find some intricate uses for them. This one is very cool.

First it’s not the loudest Limiter there is but it’s loud enough.

I’m not going to go all crazy detailed but what I found so far I really like for certain material.

To me I think This limiter really excels at acoustic music with very articulate guitar notes, bowed strings and hi hats. Things that are fast and transients

*Keep in mind That this limiter has a very slight lift in stereo image that makes things more open or upward in a snense even at 90% stereo linked where others are not as open at around the 90% linked
This could also be a setting thing that is just different to others. Either way it does a little more so going into it keeping that in mind and adjust. I’ll have to play more with 100% to really tell but I usually always got for less then 100% if I can get away with it

The other thing I really like about this limiter is how it handles resonance material like stuff with bows or strings even guitars. It does handel them in a really nice way and it’s definitely doing something to tame the nasty stuff but still keep it sounding nice.

Now for bass and heavy bass

Well flat(no tilt) it’s what you would expect. It does the thing where is sort of closes the bass in on itself. I’m not sure how to explain this one but think of a ball of play dough and then very very slightly squishing it so it’s just not as round of a ball anymore.

So to get around this I found(so far) that switching the tilt to 10 really helps but there is a few negatives as with anything

First is you lose a tiny bit of punch(might be a crossover thing??) in the low end
The second which could be positive or negative is it clears up a little bit if mud from the low mids which makes things sound more open but also loses some of that nice thick rich area. Not a bad thing if the material calls for it but far this setting could be a judgment mistake on some material if you don’t really listen. You might think “yeah sounds great but something is missing”

So best case is to eq into it knowing what you are getting into.

This is only a couple of hours using it so take this with a grain of salt.

I have been trying it on a heavy rock track I’m working on today with a multitude of issues that are almost all taken care of going into the limiter but some still here and there. It’s def aware of resonance and as I mentioned it doing something nice to tame it that doesn’t feel like omg that’s to much.

I’ll have to give it more time
So far not a fan of the drive even at 1 but maybe starting off with that and going into it might work but I’ll probably keep far away from that setting.
Clipping is fine and you know clips like everything else

Great plugin as a new limiter
I guess I went to far 🤦‍♂️
