Every Target Tells a Story! What do you think happened Here? Looks like a fun Friday night was had. Not every target is going to be a shiny Gold Nugget. A lot of the time you dig target after target just to have a pocket of spent 22lr casings. Either way it was a fun day out and we were able to clean up the ground alil bit more. On to the next find! In October 2019, Tim and Ross Fisher discovered a partially buried gold dredge on their property in Nash County, North Carolina.
Here's an overview of the discovery:
* The dredge is believed to be the Robinson Gold Dredge.
* Dimensions: It is 94 feet long, 32 feet wide, and has a 7-foot-deep wooden hull.
* History: The dredge was built in New York in the early 1900s, then shipped to North Carolina in pieces by train for gold dredging in the area.
* Discovery: The Fishers found the dredge while treasure hunting on their land, a former gold mine site. Drought conditions in the area made the land dry enough to spot pieces of wood and steel sticking through the ground.
* Preservation and Future Plans:
* The Fishers are working with the Army Corps of Engineers and the North Carolina Archaeological Society to preserve the dredge and protect the surrounding environment.
* They plan to expose more of the dredge and rebuild it.
* Their ultimate goal is to turn the site into an attraction where visitors can pan for gold and learn about the area's history.
* They have already opened the N.C. Treasure Hunters Campground, where visitors can pan for gold and fossils.
* Uniqueness: Finding a wooden hull dredge of this type is considered very rare.

This Pay Pile a has been sitting in this exact spot for well over one hundred years. It’s unclear why the miners left this pile untouched. Did they find better gold to run,Was this a tailings pile that contains the gold they lost? That answer might never been known. But what I do know is that regardless if it’s a tailings pile or pay pile. It still contains gold!!! Thank y’all for watching!!!

What an Awesome Day!! When I hear people say that North Carolina Doesn’t have gold, I laugh…
