Are you sun cream savvy? With another heatwave on the way and many of us heading to the beach, planning on being out and about in the Hampshire countryside or in our gardens, or having to work outdoors, it's important to protect our skin from harmful UV rays - even on cloudy days!
Public Health - Hampshire County Council is sharing these skin sun safety tips:
☀️Use at least SPF 30 sunscreen with 4-star UVA protection (the higher the star the better the protection)
☀️Make sure your sunscreen has not passed its expiry date
☀️Apply sunscreen generously - 6 to 8 teaspoons if you're covering your body, and never let your skin burn
☀️If you plan to be out in the sun long enough to risk burning, sunscreen needs to be applied twice; 30 minutes before going out and just before going out
☀️Reapply sunscreen every two hours, and after swimming or sweating
☀️Take extra care to protect babies and children. Their skin is much more sensitive than adult skin, and damage caused by repeated exposure to sunlight could lead to skin cancer developing in later life. Children aged under 6 months should be kept out of direct strong sunlight.
