The Butte Muckers came up big in a big moment Sunday evening on Miners Field at 3 Legends Stadium.
The Muck Show claimed the title of the 2025 Butte American Legion Baseball tournament with a thrilling 3-2 win over the Frenchtown Broncs. The win capped the 16-game tournament, and the Muckers rolled their record to 14-1 on the season.
Noah Powers, Beau McGree and Kodye Kjersten were the stars of the game. Powers pitched a complete-game gem to get the win. He scattered six hits over seven innings, struck out four and did not issue a walk. He needed just 66 pitches, 52 of which went for strikes.
McGree drove in all three runs, including a seeing-eye single that scored Kjersten with the winning run as the Muckers walked off with the win in the bottom of the seventh inning. The winning run scored with two outs on the board.
McGree, a gritty second baseman/catcher who played in the infield on Sunday, also found a hole to score Kjersten and Tegan Duffy to give the Muckers a 2-0 lead in the first inning.
Calvin Cunningham tripled, Kjersten joined McGree with two singles, and Treigh Hollow singled off hard-throwing lefty Dawson Rodoni, who pitched the distance and struck out 12 batters for the Broncs.
Butte went 4-0 on the tournament, which began on Thursday. The Mucker steamrolled their way to the title game, beating Anaconda 14-0, Lone Peak 8-0 and the Helena Independents 12-4.
The tournament included the return from injury for Muckers Beau Henderson and Grady Foley. The team also includes Bryson Hibbert, Cole Solomon, Evan McEwen, Hunter Davies, Jordan Scown, Ryan Draper and Tucker Kissell, and the roster contributed to the title from top to bottom.
Reece Cox is the head coach of the Muckers. He is assisted by Coyt Stajcar and Ethan “Easy” Cunningham.
The Muck Show will hit the road Tuesday to take on the Missoula Mavericks B for one game. They head to Hamilton to take on the Bitterroot Red Sox in a twin bill on Thursday.
