‘Unforgivable’ that Gaza crisis continues as world watches_ UNRWA official

We’ve been speaking with Sam Rose, acting director of UNRWA affairs in Gaza, about the crisis unfolding in the enclave. “The deprivation, the hunger, the exhaustion, the bombardment, the stress that people are under is on a level that we’ve not seen through more than 20 months of absolutely brutal conflict. And it will be worse tomorrow if the situation doesn’t change,” he told Al Jazeera.

Rose said UNRWA staff members in Gaza – from teachers to nurses, doctors and sanitation workers – are “carrying on because they have no choice”.

“Many of the staff that I spoke to earlier this week have yet again been displaced as a result of the evacuation orders in central Gaza but were then going back to work. And all of them are hungry,” Rose said.

'Many Palestinians in Gaza are just skin and bone'_ Doctor

More Palestinians are now dying of hunger than in Israeli strikes.
The Israeli blockade of Gaza has plunged the Strip into a severe malnutrition crisis.
In the past 48 hours, the health ministry says more than 20 Palestinians have died of starvation.

Doctor Deirdre Nunan, a Canadian orthopaedic surgeon who has volunteered several times in Gaza, tells Al Jazeera that the situation in the besieged enclave is “immeasurably worse” than when she was last there in April.

Twenty-five countries, including UK, France, call for immediate end to Gaza war

The foreign ministers of 25 countries, including the UK, France, Italy and Japan, and the EU Commissioner for Equality, Preparedness and Crisis Management, signed a joint statement calling for an immediate end to the war in Gaza.
In a statement, the signatories said the “suffering of civilians in Gaza has reached new depths”, with the aid delivery system in the enclave “dangerous” and depriving “Gazans of human dignity”.
“We condemn the drip feeding of aid and the inhumane killing of civilians, including children, seeking to meet their most basic needs of water and food,” the statement read.
“The Israeli Government’s denial of essential humanitarian assistance to the civilian population is unacceptable,” it said, calling on the government to lift restrictions on aid trucks.
Moreover, the foreign ministers said they “strongly oppose” any plans for a demographic change in the occupied Palestinian territory.
“We urge the parties and the international community to unite in a common effort to bring this terrible conflict to an end, through an immediate, unconditional and permanent ceasefire. Further bloodshed serves no purpose,” it added.
Israel has rejected a statement by 25 countries calling for an end to the war on Gaza as a move “disconnected from reality and sends the wrong message to Hamas”.

‘We are dying of hunger’_ Gaza civilians collapse under total Israeli siege

A warning to our viewers – the images in this report are deeply disturbing.

Israel’s ongoing blockade on Gaza has led to an alarming rise in the number of people who have been starved to death.
Gaza’s health ministry says 19 Palestinians have died of hunger in 24 hours.
The UN says it's receiving ‘desperate messages of starvation’ while aid is stockpiled just outside and remains blocked.
