OK, Randy Russ posted one of his favorite recorded solos, and it was a dandy: blues w/Jimmy Carl Black. Got me thinking, what’s my favorite solo that I’ve recorded. This is one of them. Not blues. Fiddle, not guitar. The fiddle plays through the song, but there’s definitely a “solo” section.

When I was quite young, I thought (or at least hoped) that by 2024 a Peace Song would be quaint, passé, and completely unnecessary. But it turned out that songs of peace are needed as much as ever. One thing I’ve learned: if there is any hope for peace, it’s got to be homegrown. One has to feel it inside before finding it out in the world. The good news is: we each have a boundless Fountain of Peace our hearts!

SONG FOR THE NEW YEAR. There’s a ritual called Burning Bowl, often practiced around the New Year. Rather than making resolutions about what you want to DO, you meditate on what you want to let go or get rid of: negative thoughts, attitudes, emotions, or old patterns. You write whatever comes up on a piece of paper and BURN IT. I liked the idea as soon as I found out about it, and I wrote this song.

Killers of the Flower Moon: My ears perked up when Jesse Plemons' character showed up and said, "I'm Tom White". When he added, "I use to be a Texas Ranger" I knew for sure! My dad, Verdon R. Adams, wrote Tom White's biography, interviewed him many times and visited him at La Tuna federal prison, where he was warden. The book was published by Texas Western Press in 1971. Now, on Amazon, sellers are asking from $189-$368 for a copy. I'm going to re-read the bit on The Osage.
