5th Sunday of Easter
John 15:1-8

Jesus said, "I am the true vine, my Father is the vine grower. He takes away every branch in me that does not bear fruit, everyone that does he prunes so that it bears more fruit. You are already pruned because of the word that I spoke to you. Remain in me, as I remain in you. Just as a branch cannot bear fruit on its own unless it remains on the vine, neither can you unless you remain in me. I am the vine, you are the branches. Whoever remains in me and I in him will bear much fruit, because without me you can do nothing.

The Gospel emphasizes the need for Christians to ABIDE in Christ as a condition for producing FRUITS, without HIM we are nothing. Those of us who do not abide in Jesus will wither and be useless, just as withered branches are thrown into the fire to be burned. As Christians, we must CONFESS our Baptismal Faith by showing it not only in words but in our ACTION - showing the fruits of our love, mercy and service. Jesus reminds the Rich Young Man of the following the commandment as the first step to eternal life, GO sell what you have and GIVE it to the poor (Mt 19:16-22). In UNION with the Savior, we attain the perfection of Charity which is HOLINESS. PRAY and receive the Sacraments that our bond with Him may be strengthened.

Prayer
Lord Jesus, without You I am nothing. I offer You my prayer to intensify my love so that I may persevere my life in You. Help me to remain with You amidst the temptation around me.
Amen

John 10:1-10

Jesus said, "I am the gate for the sheep. All who came before me are thieves and robbers, but the sheep did not listen to them. I am the gate. Whoever enters through me will be saved, and will come in and go out and find pasture. A thief comes only to steal and slaughter and destroy; I came so that they might have life and have it more abundantly."

Jesus is telling us, "I am the gate for the sheep." The gate is Jesus Himself! He is the good shepherd for He gave His very life for us. He established the Church for us and He instituted the Eucharist for us His sheep. We will never lose our way if we FOLLOW Jesus our SHEPHERD. Let our prayers be always on our lips: "The Lord is my Shepherd; there is nothing I shall want" (Ps 23:1). Let us KNOW Jesus that we may not be misled by the voice of the deceiver. Focus on the SAVING WORK of the Good Shepherd and follow Him. Let His STANDARDS prevail in the life we live that our MARK as true Christian may stand out. There are other sheep that do not belong to His fold.
As we deepen our FAITH, the Lord will teach us to see "others" in His eyes, to love them in His own heart. SHARE in His MISSIONARY WORK - lead them to the GATE where all His flocks are gathered.

Prayer
Jesus our Good Shepherd, it was Your love for me that first opened my eyes, and heart to Your presence in my life. You make me feel that I am safe and protected Help me to lead others in Your gate that they too may feel Your loving presence.
Amen

"Lahat po tayo ay kailangan ng pera, gamitin ang pera sa tama, pero huwag hayaan na pera ang gagamit sa atin. " Huwag maging ganid sa pera, ang tao ay may pag-iisip, puso at pakiramdam ang pera may tao nga pero hindi nakakaramdam. "

Good Shepherd Sunday
John 10:11-18
Jesus said: "I am the good shepherd. A good shepherd lays down his life for the sheep. A hired man, who is not a shepherd and whose sheep are not his own, sees a wolf coming and leaves the sheep and runs away, the wolf catches and scatters them. This is because he works for pay and has no concern for the sheep. I am the good shepherd, and I know mine and mine know me, just as the Father knows me and I know the Father, and I will lay down my life for the sheep."

The Fourth Sunday of Easter, is called GOOD SHEPHERD Sunday. The GOOD SHEPHERD who lays down His life for His sheep. This is also the WORLD DAY of PRAYER for VOCATIONS. Today, we are ASSURED of PROTECTION of the Good Shepherd, for He KNOWS us, provides us, and LOVES us. Everyone knows that the Bishops, priest and pastors of the different Churches and leaders of religions and sects are called SHEPHERDS. They all lead their flocks to green pastures and in living their FAITH. In the same manner all of us ENTRUSTED with the care of others is a SHEPHERD. Parents, teachers, doctors, nurses, government officials, bosses and even politicians are all Shepherds. We answer the CALL not just to be a shepherd to people entrusted to us but to be a GOOD SHEPHERD and not a wolf ready to devour the people we are called to serve.

Prayer
Our Father, we thank You for calling men and women to serve in Your kingdom as deacons, priests, and consecrated persons. May we respond too generously to Your call.
Amen
