Its TIME to play Journalist again. The benefits for me in this vein is... as 'The Walking Dead' .... the "normal" Rules dont apply to me. So reprimands and punishment of the Guiilty is something that, right now, is something terrifying..... but not for me. Not for me!!!

THE SKETCH.
www.TheSketchMagazine.com is due to get launched in Autumn 2019.
It will be an Archive of all the news and content of "The Sketch" from 1950 to 1957 when it finally stopped being published.

The Archives will be Fee entry and allow users to access the archives and see large high resolution scans of all 10,000 pages and more.

As time goes on they will be categorized into their content theme and subject.

For the posts here I shall place samples of the advertising, and some news content later on this month as well as other content
The Sketch was famous for.

It is a real treat and something that so accurately defines all the glamour and class, phaph and pomp... whatever you wish to call it, but it is a romantic escape into a world that, sadly, no longer exists.
Today, with phones, pads and 'puters, religious victimization, serial abuse, poverty out of control, political unrest even before chances have been given, this world is not the world our Parents grew up in...

Theirs, while it may have been harder for the poorer, held more warmth than we see in the world today and an obliviousness that has a peculiar calming effect on the reader.

I hope you like what you see, I will do my best to post as varied a content taster suite here as I can.

The actual archive will be something stunning to observe and a rarity unique in the world today as the Scans come from The Actual Publishers Archives.

Later this year pre-paid access accounts will be allowed at discount prices but only for the first 100.

Well, Simpsons shorts may well have been expensive. I mean, £3.16/- and a simple novel costs 12/- Hmm... But I think the red checkered one I'd probably use as a picnic blanket. No wonder he's laughing.

REVLON.... Not 6, not even 8....... but 20 FABULOUS COLOURS.
Well, I'm on the edge of my seat!!!! (Yawn!)
BUT WAIT, this is Lanolin Lipstick. It comes in "NON SMEAR" and "REGULAR".
Well, if a Lady would like to wear all 20 colours and kiss me on the cheek using the "Regular" brand I shall wear the muilticoloured smear with pride.

Who ever heard of advertising to a Womans' taste by saying her clothing is covered in heavy knobbles???
Correct me if I'm wrong but I thought most ladies came with two perfectly good ones of their own. :P :D

DRAMBUIE making an appearance. Even though it says "you will find Drambuie awaiting you like a friendly gesture from home the world over..." the advert looks distinctly sinister.

STORY BOOKS!
Not something common but here and there we see novels for sale at a staggering 12 shillings and sixpence. Considering this is 1950, paperbacks and stoprybooks geenrally sold for about £0.25p in the seventies so what happend in the 50's to promote such astronomical prices for a storybook?

Mink Jackets by Molho. Throughout the Fifties in The SKetch Magazine there appear the most incredible Mink and Fur Coats. Full length to skimpy jacketlets.

HEI-YU is a Cat Cartoon created by Geoffrey Salter. Little known this Character appeared throughout the Fifties in very gentle humour.
