Let’s talk baseball for Mother’s Day ⚾️
An interview I hope will make everyone smile, check out my conversation on NewsNation Live with Roberto Clemente Jr. the son of baseball legend Roberto Clemente on the love of the game, his family’s legacy, love and respect for his mother and the future of the MLB.

Clemente Jr. opened up about his mother, Vera, who shaped his life both on and off the field sharing her lasting impact on his life.

Clemente Jr. also shared his thoughts on the state of MLB in 2025, spotlighting the Pittsburgh Pirates, Dodgers, and Mets as this season’s top contenders. “It’s powerful to see the Pirates leading again,” he said, calling it a full-circle moment for his family.

We also talked about the Tornado Bat, a modern twist on the traditional bat that’s changing how players train and perform, and about the new Pope’s love of baseball, showing just how far the game’s influence reaches.

This was one of my favorite interviews on our show!

Crime scene investigator Sheryl McCollum, who was called by Tupac’s mother Afeni Shakur years ago to investigate Tupac’s death, joined us last night to give us an inside look at the timeline and investigation she took part of. This is content you will see no where else ⬇️Thank you for joining us on Banfield last night with your perspective and knowledge of this case.

➡️ Behind the scenes of the investigation inside the Suffolk County Crime Lab - As we continue to learn more details about this disturbing case I wanted to share some BTS video I took September 14, 2021 while filming a documentary on the story. We got a first hand look at the M-Vac System being used by investigators to pull hard to extract DNA from the crime scenes - which has allegedly linked suspect to 6 victims so far. We were given exclusive access to the lab at the time to see the machine and check out how the advanced technology is being used to test difficult samples, such as porous or rough surfaces (they used examples of ropes, rocks, and gloves ) a system they were using to re-examine previously tested items.

The M-Vac is a wet-vacuum DNA collection system which uses a solution sprayed onto the surface while simultaneously being vacuumed off of the surface. It creates a “mini-hurricane” that loosens the DNA material which is transferred to the collection bottle and later concentrated onto a filter.

A hair found on 's body was matched, with 99.96-percent certainty, to Heuermann, prosecutors said, and hairs found on 's body also matched Heuermann with 99.96-percent certainty.

The CrimeCon countdown is on!
See you in Nashville next weekend May 31-June 2nd as our team takes part in multiple panels and discussions involving everything true crime. Last year I met for the first time in person at CrimeCon 2023 in Orlando, we’ve been chasing the same stories for years and I’m thrilled that we are now on the same team working together. We will be at the conference along with Ashleigh Banfield and Marni Hughes providing live reports on NewsNation throughout the weekend with new details and insights on all the cases you follow.

*On Sunday June 2nd, I’ll be talking with Mark Geragos as we discuss two of his biggest and most controversial cases that are each back in the news: Former client Scott Peterson’s recent efforts w/the L.A. Innocence Project asking for new DNA testing, & new evidence in the Lyle and Eric Menendez case.

* Ashleigh Banfield will be doing a show from the conference & is hosting the premiere event of the weekend, The Clue Awards.

*Brian will host a discussion Saturday June 1st on the Kansas Moms case “Murders, Money and Mayhem in Rural America”

*Marni Hughes takes the stage Sunday with retired detective Moses Castillo for her discussion: “The Psychology of Online Predators.

We will see you there!
