It was a solid day of new releases! First, I had to check out a band I've been listening to since high school, and that inspired some of my own music.
Psyclon Nine released their new album 'AND THEN OBLIVION' today, which did not disappoint. It seems to lean back into the heavy and metal side of things while adding new elements at times, with some of the singles like "Devil's Work" or "I Choose Violence," incorporating what I almost feel had elements of trap in a tasteful way or a very Psyclon way.
Other songs I feel had some hits of acid or trance like "Shoot To Kill" and "CRWLNG FRM CNT T CSKT" which were pretty cool, heavy, and kept things interesting.
there are some other stand-out songs as well that I have to mention. The first of which is "LOCUST OF EVERYTHING" which is as if the atmosphere of Silent Hill and black metal met which is extremely satisfying.
If you're a fan of this style of music or have been a fan of P9 in the past I'm sure this will be another album on repeat this year. You have everything ranging from industrial, ebm, acid, metal, trap, and more. You get heavy, atmospheric, or just a general vibe and weight of each song.
I love how the album ends with "APRÈS TOI, LE DÉLUGE" which paints almost a moment in time or feeling akin to listening to some of Trent Reznor's work on The Downward Spiral or Ghosts. The last track is one of my personal favorites, where NERO shows even more depth and range with "TAXIDERMY" which is very much welcomed.
I've given the album a few listens now and I'm happy with it and think you all should definitely give it a list as soon as you can and check out a live show if you get the chance as it seems they're doing more shows than in the past!
