Featuring the top designers and top models of the time.

"I flew out of Fiji a few days after the show, to live in Asia. I didn't get to see the show back then and I don't quite know how I have this footage... but 30 years later, here's what was, July 1995.

My beloved Mother recorded one part; the Kaleidoscope show, hosted and produced by Fiji media personality Sharon Rolls, which featured Wella's star hairstylist's fabulous segment.

We have kept the original graphics and majority of the visual cuts, with glimpses of the designer interviews.
I explain why we couldn't use the speaking footage, not just because the interviewer could cure insomnia...

“Street style” at fashion weeks is primarily about famous folks, “influencers” and recognisable labels. In Aus, many of the [multicultural] street style photographers didn’t photograph PoC people, particularly ‘unknowns’.
Sure, sure, they do nowwwwww…. because… “diversity” sells?"

"I am a [...] fan, now, although am uncomfortable that she is celebrated for her professionally sculpted beauty.
I am from a time when, even though they were polished and airbrushed, the models were artists as well as works of art when ‘on stage’.

What I remember most about this collection [which I had written on Instagram and said aloud on the riser] is that finale walk’s track was ‘Formation’ by Beyonce!

LYRICS:
You mix that negro with that Creole / Make a Texas bama / I like my baby heir / With baby hair and afros / I like my negro nose / With Jackson Five nostrils

That song was chosen by the Creative Director as the finale walk track with not a hint of Melanin in the model formation.

LYRICS:
I go hard (I go hard) / Get what’s mine (take what’s mine) / I’m a star (I’m a star) / ‘Cause I slay (slay), I slay (hey)

I guess all that gets heard is “…go hard… get… take… star… slay“.
