On Thursday, June 19th at approximately 5:25a, all 6 companies of the Manhasset-Lakeville Volunteer Fire Department were dispatched to a reported building fire at the Quaker Meetinghouse on Northern Blvd. 3rd Assistant Chief Chen [8705] and 2nd Assistant Chief Weisburd [8702] were both immediately on the road and advised by dispatch that Nassau County Police were on scene confirming a car into building with active fire. Chief of Department Porras [8703] was first on scene and transmitted a Signal 10 with an active car fire into the building with extension to the building. Engine 8712 was first due and stretched the initial line to begin extinguishing the fire. In total, 2 lines were stretched and placed into operation to completely extinguish the fire with the assistance of a FAST from Port Washington. The fire was placed under control in approximately 45 minutes. The driver of the vehicle was pronounced dead on scene. The accident is under investigation by Nassau County Police.

On Tuesday, June 17th at approximately 5:15p, the East Williston Fire Department was dispatched to a reported car fire at the intersection of East Williston Ave and Roslyn Rd. 2nd Assistant Chief Romero [8102] quickly arrived on scene and confirmed an active engine compartment fire. Engine 811 and Ladder 813 were first due and placed 1 line into operation to quickly knock down the fire. Units operated on scene for approximately 30 minutes before being placed back in service. All operations were under the direction of Chief of Department Batterson [8100].

On Sunday, June 15th at approximately 2:40a, the Hempstead Volunteer Fire Dept was dispatched to an automatic alarm on Terrace Ave. Shortly after the alarm was dispatched, Fire Alarm Central began receiving calls for an apartment fire and the alarm was upgraded adding a dual response engine from West Hempstead. 2nd Assistant Chief Clark [82] quickly arrived on scene and transmitted a Working Fire for a kitchen fire on the top floor of a 6-story apartment building. Ladder 2 along with Engine Company One and Enginee 5 quickly arrived on scene and began standpipe operations and quickly extinguishing the fire without any further extension. With the assistance of crews from South Hempstead and Rockville Centre, the building was ventilated before the scene was placed under control. The fire was placed under control in approximately 30 minutes under the direction of Chief of Department Fitzroy [80].

On Wednesday, June 4th at approximately 6:30a, the Roslyn Rescue and Roslyn Highlands Fire Companies were dispatched to a reported of smoke from the attic of an office building on Northern Blvd in Greenvale. Rescue Chief of Department Collura [5600] was quickly on the road and advised by Ex-Chief Conklin [5628] of smoke from the attic vents and a Signal 10 was transmitted with fire initially found on the first floor of a 2-story office building. Engine 566 was first due and stretched the initial line to begin extinguishing the fire. The fire was raised to a 2nd alarm with additional pockets of fire found on the basement and 2nd floor of the building. At least 3 lines were stretched and placed into operation to extinguish the fire with the assistance of crews from East Norwich, Sea Cliff, Glenwood, Syosset, Westbury, Carle Place, Oyster Bay and East Williston. The fire was placed under control in approximately 90 minutes. The cause of the fire is under investigation.

On Tuesday, May 27th at approximately 12:40a, the Port Washington Fire Department was dispatched to a report of smoke from the building on Port Washington Blvd. Flower Hill Lieutenant Nadel arrived on scene finding active fire in the first floor kitchen of restaurant in a 2 story mixed occupancy and a Signal 10 was transmitted. Engine 856 was first due and stretched the initial line to extinguish the main body of fire. With the assistance of crews from Manhasset-Lakeville, Plandome and Roslyn Highlands, the scene was placed under control in approximately 20 minutes. All operations were under the direction of Chief of Department Reese [8500].

On Monday, May 26th just before 8p, the Bethpage Fire Department along with a dual response engine from Plainview were dispatched to a reported house fire on Eileen Ave. Bethpage Chief of Department DeBobes Jr [Car 1] and 2nd Assistant Chief Fitzwilliam [Car 3] were quickly on the road with smoke from a distance along with Operator 31 on scene advising heavy fire in the 3/4 corner, a Signal 10 was transmitted. 9044 was first due along with Ladder 4 and the initial line was stretched to begin extinguishing the fire. With heavy fire throughout the 1st & 2nd floors, crews backed out to utilize master streams to extinguish a large volume of the fire before crews continued with interior operations. At least 4 lines were stretched and placed into operation to extinguish the main body of fire in approximately 30 minutes with the assistance of crews from Hicksville, Syosset, Farmingdale, South Farmingdale, Jericho, Westbury, Wantagh, and Levittown. Extensive overhaul was conducted by crews on scene before the fire was placed under control in approximately 1 hour. 2 Firefighters were transported with minor injuries to local hospitals. The cause of the was investigated by Nassau County Fire Marshals and Nassau County Police Arson & Bomb Squad and determined to have been intentionally set by a resident of the house.

On Sunday, May 25th at approximately 1am, the Freeport Fire Department was dispatched to a reported garage fire on North Long Beach Ave. 3rd Assistant Chief Rodriguez [2103] along with Engine 216 and Vigilant Engine 212 quickly arrived on scene finding a smoke condition in the parking garage of a multi-story apartment building. 1 line was stretched off Engine 216 while crews worked to locate source which was found to be a rubbish fire with extension to a vehicle in the garage. The main body of fire was quickly knocked down before there was any further extension to the structure. Crews operated on scene for approximately 1 hour conducting overhaul and ventilation. Nassau County Hazmat was requested to the scene for an active fuel leak. All operations were under the direction of Chief of Department Sotira [2100].

On Friday, May 23rd at approximately 2:20p, the Freeport Fire Department was dispatched to a reported bedroom fire on Gordon Pl. Clearing from a prior alarm, Chief of Department Sotira [2100] and Engine 216 were immediately on the road and while en route, Ex-Chief 2112x arrived on scene and advised responding units of smoke showing from the house with all occupants out and a Signal 10 was transmitted. Engine 216 was first due and stretched the initial line into the house to begin extinguishing the fire. In total, 3 lines were stretched with 2 placed into operation to extinguish the main body of fire with the assistance of crews from Baldwin, Merrick, and Hempstead. The fire was placed under control in approximately 45 minutes with extensive overhaul conducted by crews on scene. The cause of the fire is under investigation.

On Thursday, May 22nd at approximately 12:10p, the Hicksville Fire Department was dispatched to a reported car vs house with possible entrapment at the intersection of South Oyster Bay Rd and Nassau Ave. Medic 9399 quickly arrived on scene and found a 2 car accident with 1 car across the lawn and into a detached garage with all occupants out. Engine 935 along with Engines 933, 937 and Rescue 938 secured both vehicles while Ambulance 9349 evaluated the vehicles occupants alongside Nassau County Police ambulances. With structural damage to the garage, mutual aid was requested from Bethpage Technical Rescue Team to evaluate the structure alongside Nassau County ESU. 1 occupant was transported to a local hospital by Ambulance 9349. Units operated on scene for approximately 1 hour before being placed back in service. All operations were under the direction of the Captain of Emergency Company # 5.

On Monday, May 19th just after 9a, the Massapequa Fire Department was dispatched to a report of smoke from the building at the intersection of Merrick Rd & Forest Ave. 3rd Assistant Chief Kennedy [6303] was quickly on the road and upon his arrival, found smoke from the building and transmitted a Signal 10 for fire in the Shower Door store. Engine 6311 was first due and stretched the initial line while crews worked to locate the main body of fire. 3 lines were stretched with at least 2 placed into operation to extinguish the main body of fire in approximately 30 minutes. With the assistance of crews from Seaford, North Massapequa, Amityville and South Farmingdale, extensive overhaul was conducted throughout the buildings. All operations were under the direction of 2nd Assistant Chief McCaffrey [6302]. The cause of the fire is under investigation.

On Monday May 12th just after 4a, the Roslyn Rescue & Roslyn Highlands Fire Companies were dispatched to an automatic alarm on Grace Dr in Old Westbury. Highlands Chief of Department Unger [5900] arrived on the scene and was met by the homeowner who advised they had a smoke condition in the house. Upon a brief search, heavy smoke was found coming from the basement and a Signal 10 was transmitted. Rescue Engine 566 and Highlands Ladder 598 were first due and stretched the initial line to quickly knock down the main body of fire in the basement. In total, 2 lines were stretched with one placed into operation to completely extinguish the fire with the assistance of crews from Carle Place and a FAST from Jericho. The fire was placed under control in approximately 45 minutes under the direction of Rescue Chief of Department Collura [5600]. The cause of the fire is under investigation.

On Thursday, May 1st just before 10p, the East Meadow Fire Department was dispatched to a reported house fire with people trapped on Vincent Dr. Safety Officer 6155 was quickly on scene with smoke showing from the house and upon the arrival of 1st Assistant Chief Becker [6101], a Signal 10 was transmitted with all occupants confirmed out of the house. Engine 611 was first due and stretched the initial line through the first floor encountering heavy fire in the kitchen. In total, 2 lines were stretched and placed into operation to extinguish the fire which extended through the eaves and into the attic. With the assistance of crews from North Bellmore and a FAST from Levittown, the main body of fire was quickly knocked down with the scene placed under control in approximately 1 hour. All operations were under the direction of Chief of Department Wood [6100]. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
