I’m pleased to share the first new music i’ve made under the name Châtelet in a very long time. A joint effort with my friend and longtime collaborator Adam James Douglas Pickering of Rich List.

Arms Outstretched was born out of an idea i’d been working with on and off since about 2021, and was a deliberate attempt to write something that had a hook as opposed to focussing on just creating an atmosphere. I’d always thought it was promising, but it was working with Adam on his vocal parts that really made me want to do more with it.

Adam is, and has been for as long as i’ve known him, one of my favourite lyricists. He knows how to communicate despair in such a perfect way - articulating huge feelings in ways that on the surface seem almost flippant - basically the perfect companion for what I was imagining. I can’t remember if I’d mentioned to Adam that I felt all the tracks on the record were somehow connected to the idea of the end of the world, but when he turned in his first takes of the vocals for this it clicked into place perfectly.
