Myke Shrews top 3 movie picks for this Fourth of July weekend.
Happy 4th of July from Operation Babble!
Check out Myke Shrews top 3 Fourth of July movies for the weekend.
This weekend isn’t just another Independence Day. It’s America’s 250th birthday and that’s worth celebrating.
Back in 1776, a bunch of determined, sleep-deprived men got together and essentially told the most powerful empire on Earth, “Yeah, we gonna do our own thing.” History remembers it a little more elegantly than that, but the courage behind it was very real.
The Declaration of Independence wasn’t just about breaking away from a king. It was about the belief that people should be free to speak, create, question, dream, argue, build, and leave the world a little different than they found it. (Unfortunately sometimes that means different in both good and bad ways)
That idea is why Operation Babble has existed at all. (Even with our time off) Nobody handed us permission to start talking about movies, comics, TV shows, toys, or whatever the hell random rabbit hole we wandered into that week. We just turned on the mics and started babbling. And somehow all these years later, you kept showing up for our dumb convos. Things that mean little to the masses but hold stock to us in ways that are hard to explain.
We’ve disagreed over movies, We’ve defended terrible sequels. Hell We’ve probably made someone irrationally angry over a superhero ranking. That’s part of the fun and freedom to have those conversations, even when they’re ridiculous. It is something that’s easy to overlook until you remember there are places in the world where speaking your mind isn’t so simple, even if it’s stupid movie and pop culture opinions.
America hasn’t always gotten everything right. (No country or empire or anything ever has) But one of its greatest strengths is that every generation gets the opportunity to help write the next chapter instead of being trapped in the last one. That’s a remarkable inheritance worth protecting.
So this weekend enjoy the fireworks (oddly chosen for American celebration being a Chinese invention). Burn a hot dog if that’s your tradition. Watch some awesome movies, Spend time with people you love or like or maybe just can barely stand sometimes.
Thank you for letting us be a part of your lives and playlists. Thank you for every download, comment, every laugh, and every conversation good or bad.
Happy 250th birthday, America And happy Fourth of July from all of us at
