Tanti auguri, Ridolfo Luigi!! 🎉 On 19 February 1743 Boccherini was born in Lucca. His music took him to many places in Europe (among them, Genoa, the leitmotif of our latest release) and changed forever the cello technique and its repertoire.

He is very close to our hearts, so we have chosen his birthday for the streaming release of In copisteria del Conte. As from today, you can find it in your favourite streaming platform!! 😃

Boccherini is most likely the most famous composer in the album, from whom sonatas G. 579 and G. 571 are featured. But there is much more to discover: Galluccia, Arnaldi, Barbella, Ferrari, and Hoffmeister are also awaiting you. Cello aficionados obviously should not miss this set of discs, but I urge anyone interested in music from this period to investigate this production. It is an ear-opener, and I am sure that he/she will regularly return to it. This is musical entertainment as one would wish to hear more often."

NEW EDITION!

Giorgio Gentili. Capricci da camera a violino e violoncello o cimbalo Op. 3, Venezia 1707.

Giorgio Gentili was undoubtedly one of the most influential musicians in early 18th-century Venice. By 1702, or perhaps even earlier, he was appointed maestro di instromenti at the prestigious Ospedale dei Mendicanti in Venice, an institution that also employed musicians such as Legrenzi, Biffi, and Galuppi. In 1689, Gentili joined the orchestra of San Marco as a violinist, and shortly thereafter, in 1691, he was appointed concertmaster of the orchestra. Under his direction, musicians such as Veracini, Giovanni Battista Vivaldi, and Antonio Vivaldi worked, the latter of whom was notably influenced by Gentili’s concertos.
