Without a completed sizzle reel, I know it can be difficult for some people to fully understand what this documentary is about or how much it truly means to me.
A few days after announcing that The LoLo Show documentary project had been accepted into the Fractured Atlas fiscal sponsorship program, I received a donation from a coworker. Shortly afterward, I received another from my best friend in the whole wide world. Today, I opened my mailbox to find a completely unexpected donation along with a note wishing me success on the project.
I’m not going to call anyone out by name, but they know who they are.
I cannot adequately express how much these gestures mean to me.
I’ve never been comfortable asking people for money. Likes, shares, comments, and listens? Sure. But asking people to financially support something has never been in my nature, especially at a time when so many people are feeling the impact of rising costs and everyday expenses.
In fact, when crowdfunding and GoFundMe-style campaigns were suggested, it never felt quite right for this project. That’s why it was so important to me that before I ever shared a donation link, contributions could be made through a legitimate fiscal sponsor and be tax-deductible.
Whether you’ve shared a post, told someone about the project, organized a small grassroots fundraising effort, contributed a dollar, or simply offered encouragement, please know that your support means more than I can put into words.
For those who remember, more than a decade ago I started a little internet radio show called The LoLo Show. The support and friendships that grew out of that experience are a big part of what reignited my desire to tell this story. Seeing that same encouragement now, all these years later, has been incredibly meaningful.
Thank you for believing in this project. More importantly, thank you for believing in me.
