First off, thanks for following my music page - especially the new follows from that last batch of invites. Welcome! I am excited because I had time over the past week or so to record some music. I have covered a song from one of my late brother's favorite bands and I used my late father's electric guitar (panned left in the mix) and my late uncle Bo's acoustic guitar (panned right in the mix). There's no video, but I played - and sang - everything as usual. My brother was a much better singer, but I do sound somewhat like him, so this recording has several memorable features. I will post a link as soon as it hits distribution.

Speaking of comps, here's a peak. I don't sing much anymore, but I did call the RC Goodwin choir out of retirement for this one.

Doing some vocal comps this morning. Comps is short for cutting up several takes to get the best sounding pieces and pasting them into a composite track. I am fortunate that I have never had to do this by physically cutting tape.

I found some old pictures, so I decided to do Throwback-Thursdays. Story below...
Disclaimer: I don't claim to have anything to do with the success of successful artists. I never wanted to tour and they have no idea who I am, but I made a niche for myself working one-off shows and I was fortunate to get to sit in the mixer seat a few times.
Anyway, Cole Swindell did some Christmas time shows that were all acoustic. He and everyone in the band was super cool and I setup a mix that was nice and full and "acoustic" sounding. Then, 700 hundred of his fans packed in the room and started singing at the top of their lungs. Yikes! I had to turn it up - A LOT - in a hurry. I got it done quickly and we laughed after the show. I promise you, the next year, I was peeling paint during soundcheck and there was no more panic!

I spent the past nine days commissioning this system. 9 campus network switches, 6 cameras, 2 projectors, and a row of production stations including a Carbonite switcher workflow. We had some other folks on the team setting up everything else. Almost home and ready to make more music.
