“THE OYINBO WALL” one of the most successful defensive partnership in modern African football 🧱

Leon Balogun and his oyinbo twin William Troost-Ekong marshaled the Super Eagles defense for a couple of years, and gained the famous nickname “the oyinbo wall”.

The oyibo wall soared high and was a crucial piece in the super eagles qualification to the 2018 FIFA World cup in Russia.

The duo continued their successful defensive partnership until a series of recurring injuries penetrated and developed cracks in the wall.

Even after the wall was broken, One half of the wall, Williams Troost-Ekong continued with his impressive performance and rose to the rank as the Super Eagles captain.
Williams was named as the most valuable player in the 2023 African cup of nations that was held in Cote d’ ivoire.

With Leon Balogun now fit and back to his best, playing regularly for Scottish side Rangers, should the new super eagles coach George finidi reintroduce the oyibo wall back to his defensive lineup?
