TURKANA - NORTHERN KENYA
Adorned in layers of vibrant beads that cascade down their necks like waterfalls of color, the young Turkana girls stand with such quiet. Their skin, glowing with the rich hue of red ochre, seems to blend with the earth itself—a living canvas of tradition and pride. Each bead tells a story, each gaze holds centuries of resilience, and in their radiant presence, beauty is not just seen, but deeply felt—timeless, fierce, and magnificently alive.

"Meet the happy people of Djibouti with their beautiful cultures media never show you."

"Djibouti is an African country located on the Horn of Africa. It's home to one of the saltiest bodies of water in the world, the low-lying Lake Assal, in the Danakil Desert. The nomadic Afar people have settlements along Lake Abbe, a body of saltwater featuring chimneylike mineral formations."

"A Fulani woman of the Macina region, Mali!"

"These gild earrings (Kootone Kaŋŋe) are a symbol of family wealth, and passed down or inherited from the mother by the family's eldest daughter. Worn occasionally (weddings, namings and other important ceremonies) to showcase the family's wealth-status in the community. They can be borrowed and used by the other sisters anytime they need them."

Origin Of Turudbe Fulani:

"The Torodbe originated in Futa Toro, a strip of agricultural land along the Senegal River and at the time the state of Takrur, from as early as the 9th to as late as 13th century, later spreading throughout the Fulbe territories."

"They may well have been a distinct group by the fifteenth century, when the Denianke conquered Takrur, creating the Empire of Great Fulo. In 1644 the Zawaya Berber reformer Nasr ad-Din launched a jihad to restore purity of religious observance in the Senegal river valley. He gained support from the Torodbe clerical clan against the traditional leaders of the region and initially saw great success, but Nasr ad-Din was killed in 1674 and by 1677 the movement had been defeated. After this defeat, some of the Torodbe migrated south to Bundu and some continued on to the Fouta Djallon."
