Fancy saying goodbye to a 20th-century giant before it jets off to Durham for a three-year spa break?

Wells Cathedral’s historic organ gets one last dramatic outing on Thursday 11 December, with Tim Parsons pulling out all the stops (literally) for Messiaen’s La Nativité du Seigneur. It’s your final chance to hear it in full voice before the scaffolding goes up and the pipes come down.

A victim’s long wait for justice has ended. Michael Eckersley, now 86, has been jailed for 16 years for s*xually abusing a child in Wells during the 1980s.

He was convicted of 14 offences. The court heard how he groomed his victim and caused lasting harm.
