Happy days in knitwear and tweed 💚

Ad This jumper and hat combination has been such a go-to throughout autumn Defender adventures, and I know that’s not going to change as we head into winter.

My friends at messaged today to let me know that they have 15% off from today until Monday, so if you fancy grabbing some presents that have my personal seal of approval, I promise you can’t go wrong with the Esme jumper and Higham baker boy… But frankly, anything with an H&B label is top tier gifting in my eyes!

Perfect for Land Rover days, woodland walks, cosy Cotswold pub nights, and everything in between.

Enjoy!

The cherry on top 🎩

You may have noticed that I love a hat. Fedoras, baker boys, wide brimmed sun hats (and to be quite honest at the moment in England, a bobble, too!).

Ad are one of my most favourite hat makers, and they’ve just released a little black leather hat clip, which is such a great idea for when you don’t want to carry your hat around - I often have this issue if I’m going on a little Defender adventure to a restaurant, or staying over somewhere. Now, I can just pop the clip onto my bag and the super strong magnet holds my brim safely 🖤.

I’d be delighted with one of these under the tree, but if you hurry, Hicks & Brown are giving them away with purchases of over £115, so if you fancy a little winter gift for yourself, or making someone’s Christmas even more special, go and have a look!

Defender dog in training 🐾

With my seats back from .solutions, exquisitely wrapped in tan leather and Harris Tweed to match the dash and door cards, I am loving Landy life even more - and now I’ve got the perfect reason to spend extra time in Hutch!

Little Bambi, our beautiful maltipoo puppy, is taking her first steps to Defender dog status, enjoying a few treats in the passenger seat while I let the engine run and rev. She’s getting used to her comfy harness, too - the red cable knit style suits her so well, and she’s also got a velvet one which is remarkably similar to Land Rover Galway Green!

Having a dog back in my life was something I hadn’t realised my heart needed quite so much, and for a very small puppy, she has brought an enormous amount of joy to our family already.

So please consider this Bambi’s official welcome to LGD - you’ll be seeing a lot more of her on our Cotswold adventures 🥰.

Although I am based on the edge of The Cotswolds, the Lucari team has couriered everything to me, and my husband has fitted it all to perfection! Even the seats were sent to Lucari on a pallet and they came back looking incredibly beautiful, with heated seats ready to plug in, too.

Bambi is a maltipoo and is just 10 weeks old, so she wears an XXS harness which has plenty of room for growth.

What I am wearing is frankly irrelevant these days compared to Hutch’s new interior and sweet Bambi..!! But, everything I am wearing here I have loved for years and worn so much:

Deck the Defender with Landy bunting 🎶
(and scroll to the end for a twinkling house!)

If Carlsberg made* weekends, this one would have been up there. A while ago, my friend Jasmine was chatting to me about a winter event for her interiors business, - one thing led to another and before long, she was planning on holding it at mine!

I don’t think the farmhouse could have looked prettier on Saturday, all dressed for Christmas early, with Alterme Home tableware and cushions dotted around the living room and snug. Even Hutch himself had turned into a sleigh, filled with handmade stockings stuffed with gifts!

A group of inspirational women had been invited from interiors and lifestyle backgrounds, and treated to a skin analysis by acclaimed skin expert, Rachel from . You’ll see some of their photos in this little collection as I was far too preoccupied on the day (thank you, ladies!).

The event was scented by , with Ellea bringing her gorgeous candles to fill the spaces with the most beautiful festive aromas. This mixed rather perfectly with woodsmoke from the fire, and gently mulling wine by .

A beautiful way to prepare for the festive season! And while I was a little distracted by the prospect of picking Bambi 🐾 up the next day, it was such an honour to host everyone ♥️.

* appreciate I’m showing my age with that reference, so thank goodness Rachel is around 😆

It’s been a weekend without Defender adventures, but for very good reason. Hutch’s seats are with the Lucari team, and if you’ve seen my stories, you’ll have got the sneak peek of the tan leather and Harris tweed beauties!

I’m so glad I left the seats until last in my interior upgrade - they’re going to be the grand finale with so much impact… And I just might have mentioned it before, but goodness I am looking forward to having heated seats in the Landy, too!

I am now very much in my jumper rotation, and finding myself reaching for this one so often; it’s the one I wore when we first went to meet Bambi a few weeks ago, and ever since then, it’s been a staple. Ariat launched some really lovely pieces for autumn/winter, so the high waisted wide jeans, belt, jumper, and gilet are all part of the same country collection and I’m so pleased with them 🤎.

Despite having to leave Hutch behind, it’s still been such an enjoyable weekend. I popped over to .england for a coffee with my mum, before a little shopping in Cirencester, one of my favourite places to browse in The Cotswolds - where the independent businesses are just wonderful. Then back home to duties, and readying the farmhouse to host my friends’ event next weekend… And of course, double checking my puppy supplies list in preparation for Bambi to join us on Sunday 🐾.

So much to look forward to - including getting back out in the Land Rover once the seats are reinstated, for driving under autumn skies. The sunsets might be getting earlier, but they’re certainly magical. Meanwhile, my work calendar already resembles a solid brick wall for the week ahead, so I’m sure I’ll be more than occupied!

Planning autumn adventures with a plus one ♥️

I’m finding that the weeks are starting to drag at the moment - which is always the way when you’re looking forward to something!

Al and I have decided that the time is right to bring a new puppy into our lives. While no dog will ever be beautiful Mabel, who will own a piece of our hearts forever, our house doesn’t feel quite right without a dog. So, until 9th November, you’ll find me dreaming of little Bambi. I can’t wait to introduce her to you here, and for all the autumn Defender adventures we’re planning with our new plus one!

Meanwhile, my personal challenge of balancing warmth with timeless style continues, and a quarter zip is up there for this - they go with everything, from skirts and tall boots, to jeans and wellies. ’s are up there with some of the cosiest in my wardrobe, and although I don’t have many clothes in this shade, as soon as this one arrived, I realised that it’s the perfect pop of colour for grey sky days. Subtle embroidered branding touches are my preference, and I think the little BB is super sweet. Plus, this one is unisex - although thankfully too small for Al, so it won’t be stolen (although obviously I can steal his 😆).

I have a feeling that my love of cosy jumpers and snuggly quarter zips will be a benefit to little Bambi, too… She will be the recipient of a huge amount of cuddles!

🐶 It’s been 16 years since I’ve done the puppy thing, so please let me know your favourite dog friendly places to add to our Landy adventure list, and any dog brands I should look at! Tag any pubs, cafes, etc that you love (especially Cotswolds ones) in the comments so that we can check them out 🥰

The gift of time 🕰️♥️

While most of us enjoy an extra hour in bed when the clocks go back, my dad spends the night changing the time on the town’s most prominent clocks.

He’d been away at all week before the extra work last night, and with his birthday on the horizon too, it was the perfect time to give the greatest gift of all - time together. And what better way to spend it on a chilly October afternoon than at a proper pub?

Al and I drove Hutch across to one of our favourites - , and despite how buzzing the pub was, there happened to be a perfect Land Rover space right outside. We met my dad and Mel for an absolutely beautiful meal; after a selection of starters, Dad and Al had pork, Mel went for beef, and I had the cauliflower - all were delicious, and we left extremely full and very happy.

We had a little peek at the bedrooms while we were there, and I have to say that it would make the most gorgeous base for those exploring Oxfordshire and The Cotswolds. The Blenheim Suite in particular is a total showstopper, with four poster bed, exposed vaulted ceiling, and a copper bath to fill with bubbles. Heaven!

After saying our goodbyes, it was time for a Defender drive back home. Al took the seats out as planned, ready to be sent off to Lucari for their tweed and leather treatment (very excited for that), and now a Sunday evening by the fire is calling our names ✨.

I hope you’ve had a Sunday well spent, too.

Adding a little warmth to the chilly days 🤎

The temperatures have really started to fall here, and I can sense it won’t be too long until I’m scraping ice from Hutch’s windows in the mornings. To be honest, the main issue with that is trying to reach the middle of the windscreen… I need a de-icing step 😆

Luckily, my next Defender upgrade is on its way very soon. After this weekend’s adventures, Al’s taking the seats out and we’re packing them up for .solutions to collect. It’ll mean Hutch is out of action for a few days, but it’ll be so worth it!

Not only will the seats finally be covered in beautiful tweed and leather to match the rest of the interior upgrades, but the Lucari team are also adding a heated seat kit. Although I love getting back to driving basics in many ways, I have to admit that heated seats are one of the comforts I do really miss when out in Hutch in the cold.

Until then, I’m thankful to wrap up in the jumpers of the season - this one is from and I think it’s such a classic ☺️. Here, I’ve paired it with a timeless country skirt and classic brown boots - the perfect outfit for a pub lunch, which is exactly what Al and I are planning to do this Sunday… With a very special guest.

I hope you have wonderful weekend plans ahead 🫶

Wild horses, two ways.

Saturday was a typical October day in the Cotswolds - the clouds playing the perfect backing role to nature’s autumn colours, which made our trip out in the Defender a joy - and the chill of the evening making a night by the fire the only sensible plan.

I rarely wear pattern (tweed aside), but this equestrian print from Ariat felt so timeless and versatile - I tried the blouse with a pleated skirt and boots I’ve had for forever, and then with the Ariat countryside wide leg jeans - the shield belt finishing both looks off perfectly. I can see this making a regular appearance, not just for the way it looks, but also for the way the fabric feels. Any top this soft has my vote 🤍.

And speaking of horses, although I am very much more used to Land Rover fuelled horsepower, I’m soon to be trying some fancy new tricks on horseback after a 20 year hiatus… watch this space!

I hope you’ve had a beautiful autumnal weekend, filled with Landy rides, dog walks, fireside drinks, and great company 🍂♥️.

One thing I never regret is putting the weekend to do list to one side, and choosing a Defender day instead.

On Sunday, just before the mother of all colds decided to descend on me, we took Hutch out for a drive amongst the autumn landscape.

There is still plenty of green overhead, but the woods remind us of what is coming by throwing confetti storms of leaves down each time the chilly breeze whistles through. The sound of abundant pheasants fills the air, and squirrels peer out at us as we pull up in the Land Rover for a pit stop. Our Cotswold back yard is looking ever magical - with mist lifting as the day goes on to reveal all the colours of the season.

There are often reports of people coming to set up residence here, and especially on days like these, I know why. We often say to each other that we really couldn’t imagine living anywhere else, or in fact, driving any other car on the back roads and country lanes. Hutch is the perfect chariot.

I hope you’ve had a great start to the week, and are feeling a lot less coldy than I am, here under my snuggly blanket! Crossing fingers it’s a short-lived one ☺️.

Swapping the countryside for the city, and a night at the grill.

When I mentioned that were due to open the doors of their new Oxford roof terrace restaurant, suddenly I was my family’s favourite person.

The call of burgers, milkshakes, and cocktails meant there was something for the adults and teens in our house, so Hutch enjoyed a well-deserved rest in his parking spot, and we jumped into the big car to head into Oxford.

In the daytime, getting into the city from where we live is a faff I avoid, in favour of little Land River friendly lanes and Cotswold charm, but on a Friday evening, the traffic had dissipated, and parking at was a breeze.

Inside, the DJs were spinning vinyls, and the sound of iconic beats filled the warmly lit space, which is covered in The Beefy Boys’ signature graffiti style graphics and neon signage. Their attentive team were circling the room with signature burgers, sides, and mini milkshakes, and there was not an empty seat in the house!

Walking away with a recipe book, I am going to have to give the mac and cheese balls a go - they’re just too good! In general, I’m a terrible cook - but perhaps The Beefy Boys trucker cap will get me in the zone and give me a little luck..?!

Amelia x

Hutch is a Land Rover Defender 90 in Galway Green.

The Beefy Boys have a brilliant story - from roots in Herefordshire to competing in the world food championships (coming second!!), they’ve been serving the good stuff for over 10 years now.

I stepped out of tweed for the evening, and into a denim jumpsuit that I’ve had for years now. I teamed it with antique necklaces, a pearly belt, and pink ankle boots, for a look that was hopefully more appropriate for a cool burger joint than my typical wardrobe combinations. It just goes to show how easily you can remix existing pieces to create a different outcome 🥰. And of course, the fedoras and baker boys had to be replaced with The Beefy Boys’ signature trucker cap!

A weekend well spent in the slow lane 💚

I was so happy to have had no plans whatsoever in the diary this weekend - sometimes I need that, don’t you? It was a chance to jump into Hutch, hear the familiar sounds of the Defender rumbling along Cotswold lanes, and explore with no particular destination in mind.

Great food was enjoyed, a few errands were done, friends were caught up with over coffee, and Al and I binge-watched until far too late, snuggled on the sofa with a few glasses of wine in front of the fire… It’s been heaven 🫶

I hope you’ve had a beautiful weekend, too. And if you’ve not watched House of Guinness then perhaps don’t start watching it too late on a school night, unless you have much better restraint than I do!

Amelia x

I am wearing the blazer that inspired the interior - the .thelabel Saddle Blazer, paired with trousers, hat, and trusty Rockingham boots (very sadly discontinued).

These photos were actually taken by a few weekends ago, featuring my new favourite wine find for evenings at home after Defender adventures, (delicious and low-calorie = winner).

P.S., I never drink and drive - these were taken in my garden on the edge of the Cotswolds, ready to get inside and into cosy clothes for a Saturday night in. My came in rather handy as a bottle shelf, though!
