You’ve heard us talk about random act heroes a lot here on Sonrise Radio. They’re those who go above and beyond in many different situations, and in many different ways… big or small. Lots of those situations are out of their control but there are ways to intentionally be a random act hero for someone else! Little things like leaving a kind, inspiring note in a library book as a bookmark; baking something for your neighbors, friends, or co-worker for no reason… those things can make a big difference for someone. Think what bigger actions can do like donating blood or donating non-perishable food to a local food bank can do. If you’ve been a random act hero lately, we’d love to hear about it!

We talk a lot about random act heroes here on Sonrise and those are people who go out of their way to help others, putting them first in a variety of ways. Something like that happened to Nora K. in Chicago, Illinois. She says her son, Patrick, recently moved to Charlotte and was spending Thanksgiving alone. Nora wanted to find someone to locate a restaurant that was open, pick up a holiday meal, and deliver it to him. She posted the request in a note to an app knowing it was a long shot, but a nice young man named Kareem responded. All the restaurants in the area were closed, but by 7:00 pm he interrupted his own Thanksgiving dinner at his mom’s and delivered a homemade feast of turkey, ham, and all the fixings, even including a generous slice of pumpkin pie! Nora says when she counts all the things she’s grateful for this past season, Kareem tops the list! If you know a random act hero or been able to have been one, share the story with us!
