His parents let him d:ie and went after his property until they received a letter that said... The hospital room was so quiet that you could hear the beeping of the monitor like a clock ticking away, a time that no one seemed to care about. Michael lay motionless, his face pale, a thin tube in his nose, his chest rising and falling slightly as the machines did the work his body couldn't. Nurses came and went, some murmuring, some sighing, but none of them ever saw a visitor. No flowers, no cards, not even a call to inquire about his condition. The doctor once asked, ""Has anyone come to see him?"" And a nurse replied softly, ""His parents have been notified."" They never came. Day turned to night, and night turned to weeks. Michael, in his silent prison of unconsciousness, dreamed of voices. His mother's soft lullabies, his father's proud laughter. But those were lies his brain told him while he slept. In reality, they had vanished like cowards into the shadows, certain that he would never open his eyes again.
