"DRESUN" SUPERHERO FEATURE FILM UPDATE
Thursday October 24 2024

Below is the film's logo (on leather background) which will be part of the outfit the main actor will wear in the movie, although in the photo below we have included "COMING SOON" to reflect we are in pre-production.

Last evening parties involved had a 90 minute briefing on updates with me taking up at least 75 minutes between delivering updates and answering questions.

We are moving quickly and my workload is increasing however in the coming month I will be able to start delegating responsibilities with contracts going out to several people this weekend.

We have an official web site, developed and managed by Canadian company Espio Labs, a division of DNSnetworks (https://www.dresun.com/) which will follow the development of the feature film.

Also we now have a social media expert who has set up social media sites on popular formats (YouTube, Facebook, X, Threads, Tik Tok ...) and will start populating those sites shortly with media and manage those sites daily.

I will share links to those sites shortly so you can follow the development of this feature film.

I may reach out and engage with corporate counsel today specializing in entertainment law to retain their services for handling contractual arrangements for cast, crew and musicians/singers/composers as well as some corporate matters.

Admittedly when I have the time to think about it, I question why I wanted to get back into such a demanding role rather than sitting on a tropical beach but then I look at the hurricanes that continue to ravage the tropical beaches I could be on and accept my fate ... at least for the moment.

Superhero Feature Film Update

We now have someone on board to set up and manage the multiple social media sites for the movie. This will be an increasing job as those sites become populated with photos, videos and updates attracting viewers and subscribers where we anticipate the growing volume of comments and questions will need full time attention.

Not to forget that we will have to generate those updates beyond what the person responsible for managing the sites will be doing.

I have just set out job descriptions for 5 pre-production positions where I will put the contracts together by the end of this week and expect those people will start in their roles first of next week.

The cartoon character below is the graphic artist's rendition of the superhero DRESUN which was first revealed on the new web site.

The costume design for the lead actor playing the role will closely follow this artist's rendition DRESUN's identifying mark.

Pre-Production Update

Well even though I managed to carve out some free time for family I find that I am neck deep in pre-production business for this movie.

The list of what has to be done is growing and I am now calling on people who have been marginally involved with this project over the last 2-years to take up roles to assist in several critical areas from social media, accounting, legal, investor and sponsor relations and more.

Wednesday evening we will be holding our regular conference call to update on where we are and next steps and the itinerary I have started to put together is very, very lengthy.

Throw Back Thursday

2012 I was on set for a shoot of a comedy film in Vancouver's Gastown at a bar called The Pourhouse,

I was working with the director on another feature film he wrote and I accompanied him for the morning shoot at this location and then headed across the street to shoot additional scenes at a neighboring condo.

The shooting schedule was tight where the restaurant/bar allowed us to shoot in the morning without charge so long as we were cleared out by 11:30 when they opened for lunch to the public.

While larger budget films will close down the business and even neighboring venues for hours and sometimes days, this production elected to keep to a tight schedule with a crew of about 10 plus 3 actors and shoot the scene and leave by 11:30.

Needless to say, this was an impossible commitment because the director failed to consider the amount of time to strip down all the camera, lighting and audio gear.

I learned more about how to do things properly from observing the failures of other.

"DRESUN" Superhero Feature Film Update, October 11 2024

This is the 3rd & final part of the video interview I shot with Gene Muhammad, Screenwriter of "DRESUN" on Monday, October 7th.

In this video interview Gene brings us up to date on what stage the production of the movie is at as well as a couple of inside hints about what is planned.

Revealed in this interview is that we are planning to shoot the movie in Upstate NY and are incorporating the movie as a NY State company this week.

Edited from the video are the coughing episodes I suffered asking questions as this horrible cold lingers on. Maybe we can make a video of outtakes later on.

Later this morning I will be shooting the next series of videos to keep everyone informed about the development of the movie DRESUN.

SUPERHERO FEATURE FILM UPDATE

So now you know the name of the film is DRESUN and he is a black superhero.

Posted below is the 2nd interview I shot on Monday of this week with screenwriter Gene Muhammad with today's discussion focused more on transitioning the comic book character from print to the big screen.

Not an excuse but reality ... I was loaded down with a bad cold so operating a camera and asking questions was a challenge where too often my inclination was to start of bout of coughing. The cold also affected my voice.

Regardless Gene's interview was solid and informative. That's why I chose to not stop filming when 2 talkative ladies walked by us not taking a brake from their conversation for even 45 seconds while we were filming.

I will release another clip tomorrow and later Friday morning I will be filming another set of interviews (this time indoors).

SUPERHERO FEATURE FILM UPDATE

While I am busy working on many pre-production tasks I thought it would be a good idea to create videos giving the history behind the creation of the character "DRESUN" and the journey in making of the movie.

Over the next few weeks more videos will be released here and on the movie's social media sites as we begin to make those sites public.

This first video is an interview I shot Monday of this week with screenwriter Gene Muhammed as he talks about his beginnings in Jamaica as a young boy creating superhero characters, later publishing those characters in a series of comic books, a passion he carries on today in Canada.

Superhero Action Movie Update

To begin with I ended up with a major cold hitting me this week which has knocked the snot out of me (pardon my weird sense of humor) however I am still trudging along getting stuff done.

Monday morning I will be filming interviews with the writer/ co-producer to post on social media sites being set up for the movie. I will create a number of short edited videos to post daily onto these sites so people can follow the journey of the making of this feature film.

With the weather being so nice I elected to shoot the interview outdoors rather than a more formal studio-like setting. I also decided to make this as informal as possible so no special lighting or audio gear, just a camcorder for relaxed talks to give the public insights into everything behind the writer and the script.

I am optimistic that the Top Sheet Budget will be completed this week, a task that was far more complicated than anticipated because we had to adjust some of the ways originally planned, from soundtrack, to special fx, location and more.

There are many considerations when doing the budget from comfort level for investors; to what we pay for union cast and crew where premiums are paid based on the budget (a tier program which increases hourly rate and investments based on each tier).

The general plan will be for us to reveal more about this huge undertaking to the public mid to late November with the launch of the social media sites.

Since I am confined to my apartment with this cold I wont be able to visit my kids and grandkids this weekend, fearing I might pass it along to them so that will give me more time to plan out some sort of a promotional video, part informative and part trailer.

There's more but the nitty gritty can be extremely boring.

A couple of hints to keep your attention;
We have several major recording recording artists (for the soundtrack) and well recognized actors lined up (for lead and principal parts), one of which I am renewing by re-writing his contract this weekend.
Another hint;
We will be filming in Upstate NY.

Superhero Feature Film Update

Hollywood budgets for CGI (Computer-generated imagery) for special affects for the big action and superhero films often runs between $100 million to $200 million and can take 3 months with as many as 500 graphic artists and editors to create the effects they seek.

I am in talks with a company where we are hoping to be able to produce superior cgi effects in our movie for less than $200,000, maybe half of that.

Technology is increasing at an unbelievable rate today and the company I am speaking with is heavily into AI and Cybersecurity. As a result we will likely have a proprietary product, light years ahead of other studios.

Its funny how things can just happen.

I was asked to assist a European company source $2 million in financing to complete development of one of their products for the defense and banking industries and after connecting them with a source I took our conversation down a different path.

This will be exciting as it will be leading edge technology cutting down costs by over 90% to create reality out of our imagination for the movie.
