Our Iluminate Project is here! Exciting news: Sorin Oak will be posting reels of short readings and spoken imagery descriptions from students and alumni who have been previously published! Please feel free to reach out if you’ve been published by emailing [email protected] and want to be a part of our project. We are currently featuring creators from Vol. 30 and 31. And, contributors from the upcoming Vol. 32 will be asked to join as we get closer to publication. Stay tuned for some amazing pieces of art!

NEWS ALERT! SOR has decided to extend the submission deadline until the 15th of December. Submissions are open to current students AND alumni! The theme this year is “Patience & Desire”.
Submission Guidelines:
You need to include your pronouns, and make sure you tell us your preferred name. These can be in your signature, your bio, an extra note somewhere in the email -- we just need to know how to refer to you.
The type of each submission must appear somewhere in your submissions file name. For example, your submission files might be named "LostShoes_Prose" or "Kitchen Sink Visual."

Now, onto the new way to submit! If you prefer to not email the draft, you can submit online. You can access it through our bit.ly link, bit.ly/SORSubmit!

You might not be able to open this form while signed into your St. Ed’s email address because of the University’s administrative stuff. If that happens to you, change what account you’re using and open the link there! If more problems arise, please email us at [email protected].

We look forward to reading everyone’s submissions!!!

Stop by tomorrow! If anyone knows someone who needs to pick up a copy of SOR volume 30 or 31, come check out Snack Wellness on Fondren Lawn tomorrow between 11-1 pm!

New Lit will be selling snacks (the junk food kind) to help fund this year's print publication, and volumes 30 and 31 of SOR will be distributed for free.

Don’t forget about Author Bios! But, what even is that? They usually include your name, major, and some facts about you. They can be silly or serious, and should be one to three sentences long. You’ll usually be asked to write in the third person, and use your name instead of ”I.”

If you are a Review Board Member who’s submitting work, the Author Bio you submit must be different from the one you gave SOR when accepting your role.

Don't miss the opportunity to participate in a Murder Mystery Dinner with your friends in the Book Jackets English Club! This Murder Mystery Dinner (Bring Your Own Dinner) is tomorrow, November 16th at 6:30 p.m. over Zoom. Club members are writing a short play starring Professor Altimont as Poirot and Dr. Sheerin as Faustus; students will play a litany of other literary villains. The villains are undergoing New Narrative Rehab (led by Poirot) but it becomes VERY clear that one of them is less than reformed. It'll be a fun break from your serious literary endeavors!  The Zoom link for the event is: https://stedwards.zoom.us/j/94275925238?pwd=ZHhQM2JKUzE0dUxIK0J2YkhiWGJYQT09
