I was sad to see Merv Lopes, the Legendary Charmainade University Basketball Coach, pass away. Coach Merv coached his team to one of college basketball's greatest upsets in history, when Charmainade beat #1 ranked Virginia.

I had a nice friendship with Merv. This is a talk story, as we say in Hawaii, that Merv and I had in 2013 for my Emily T Gail Talk Sports Show on ESPN Hawaii. I found it heartwarming to listen to the show once again this morning. RIP, Merv.

I've been working on purging so I can move back to Detroit. Sort of would be a better way to describe what I am feeling about making a move as I go through files and letters and all the paper one accululates who likes hard copies when making proposals, writing stories, preparing what ever we work on. .My pace has slowed, my enthusiasm growing and meanwhile I have been appreciating some of my radio shows from ESPNHawaii which also was streamng. I see how proactive I was in shaping the kind of shows I wanted to have and fortunate people at the station were letting me create differently.

I listened to this show from 2016 with Jak Berry long time Golf Writer in Detroit and a long time friend. Jack is 94 now. I called him the other day. We did not record but we had a fabulous fun "talk story". Also in this show is talking about the exhibit that was going on at the Detroit Historical Museum at the time"Chasing Dreams" ...I was a the DHS looking at the exhibit and met the people who had brought the exhibit to Detroit..
