Did you ever hear a concerto for snare drum and orchestra? We know, it sound as though it would be pretty rat-a-tat-tat, and boring. However, we can assure you that there is a lot more to it than you might imagine. We will be performing several movements of Sean Beeson's Prometheus Rapture for Snare Drum and Orchestra as a part of our February 8 Red Dress Concert. Our soloist is COO percussionist Matthew Kinney.

Here's some info on Matt:
Matthew Kinney started playing and performing at a young age. He earned his Bachelor of Music degree from Weber State University specializing in percussion performance and his Master of Music degree at the University of Utah specializing in music education.
As a performer, Matthew has performed in Nevada, Wyoming and throughout Utah. His skills have been used for musicals, local business commercials and albums of local bands.
Before his appointment at Roy High, he was a dance musician. He worked with dancers and choreographers from around the country. He also was able to write, arrange and perform his music through the dance medium. His dance music has made it to film and been heard at several independent film festivals around the country.
He is currently Director of Bands and Guitar at Roy High School.
When he is not busy with his love of music education, Matthew writes and arranges music and performs with a variety of groups ranging from classical to folk.
Outside of music, Matthew loves spending time with his wife and cat and visiting family around the country.

You won't regret listening to this excellent piece of music played by an excellent musician.
