Hi everyone, for those of wondering what happened with Hurricane Ida, it’s now a depression. I would like to have everyone know that the main headquarters of Louisiana Weather and Mississippi Weather has lost power as of Sunday afternoon. The building has also suffered some damage with the loss of roof shingles and half of the roof nearly broken and a lot of tree branches down. Main headquarters in New Orleans, Louisiana has also lost power as of Sunday afternoon at 3PM. Therefore, I have relocated to my backup Mississippi headquarters here in Bay St. Louis in Hancock County. I will also possibly relocate again to temporary headquarters in Columbus, Georgia for the Labor Day weekend (unless I have word from the city of New Orleans that it’s safe to comeback to main headquarters in New Orleans, Louisiana). So that’s what’s going on now. A heat advisory is in affect for the Mississippi Gulf Coast until 5PM later today, temperatures will be in 90’s heat indexes will reach either the 90’s or one hundred degrees with sunshine today. Other parts of the state will see either partly cloudy or rain with temperatures in the upper 70’s to mid and upper 80’s. One portion of the state will see some mostly sunny skies with temperatures in the high 70’s to upper 80’s. Due to Hurricane Ida which came to Louisiana and portions of Mississippi Weather on the 16 year anniversary of Hurricane Katrina, I delayed the yearly honor of the anniversary of Hurricane Katrina which happened 16 years ago. Share me your memories of Hurricane Katrina and where you were 16 years ago. That’s all for now. -Andrew Ellinghausen, President and CEO of Louisiana Weather and Mississippi Weather.
