Broadcasting live from Melbourne to New York and beyond on WFMU’s Give The Drummer Radio Stream.

A musical rollercoaster of Psychedelic Freak Outs, Funk & Disco Get Downs, Exotic Dances, Rock N Roll Gas Guzzlers, Hispanic Grooves, Indie & New Wave Haircuts, Gin Soaked Jazz, Spooky Guitar Twangers, Jumpin' Blues, Mid-Century Finger Snappers, Beats From the Streets, and Rhythms of the East. Guests are likely to drop by for live music, selections and recipes for good times. So tune in for an eclectic ride, a taste of the music being made in Australia and NZ, and stay connected across the oceans of sound. The Knave is a New Zealand born musician, DJ and theatrical stage performer currently based in Melbourne, Australia. He comes with more than 13 years broadcasting experience across various dial settings and is usually found spinning records at venues around town, getting involved in local arts and musical projects as well as leading his own 14 piece Show Band.

He avidly collects all manner of records, but has a keen interest in the exotic & spicy, curious, wildly danceable and the hypnotic.

  • His love of travel and musical enthusiasm has seen him digging vinyl gems from the Medina's of Morocco, Dusty attics in Asia, Coast to coast of the USA, Various Hispanic market stalls and throughout his homelands in Oceania. With inherited Polynesian ancestry and a legendary lap steel guitar playing Great Uncle, The Knave has a special place for tropical island rhythms that extend further to Surf, Calypso and Latin dances. From opening for touring bands, moving the masses at festivals to running countless dance parties and once DJ'ing a cross country party on a train - The Knaves done plenty in the name of a good time. He is proud to join the WFMU family, share the music and bring you a wonderful mess of sound wherever you might be!
