Attention photographers 📸

There is nothing quite like the drama of high school sports. But, with more than 300 schools in our coverage area, our staff can't be present for every great moment. That's where you come in.

We've started a community Flickr page for HS sports in the DMV. Whether you’re a student, teacher or parent, we want to see the moments you’re capturing from the sidelines. This isn’t just a place to show off your shots — it’s a community to talk photography, swap tips, and celebrate the art of freezing those unforgettable plays. And, of course, we may publish your photos with a future story!

In Northern Virginia, No. 12 Stone Bridge opened the season with a 7-0 win over No. 20 Madison.

Senior Kedric Golston II scored the lone touchdown of a defensive slugfest. The score was set up by a punt return from sophomore Kaden Golston. Together, the brother helped their dad, Coach Kedric Golston, move to 1-0 in his second season at the helm.

In D.C., the My School lottery allows residents to apply to their preferred public high school.

But the system has become a makeshift transfer portal, allowing football programs to openly recruit and changing the local hierarchy.

Through the lottery, D.C. residents can apply to their preferred public high school. In time, football coaches have turned the system into a recruiting tool.
