Back in the day, there was a massive wall between consumer and professional animation equipment. If you were a big studio with deep pockets, you had access to the latest cameras, editing systems, animation rigs, and production pipelines while independent artists were piecing projects together with secondhand gear, homemade light tables, borrowed equipment, and pure determination.

But here’s the fascinating part: limitations became the independent artist’s superpower. When you don’t have unlimited resources, you innovate. You experiment. You solve problems creatively because you have no other choice.

That scrappy mindset, the willingness to create something meaningful out of almost nothing, is the true spirit of independent art.
