Who is responsible for artificially inflated insulin list prices? According to the Federal Trade Commission (FTC), pharmacy benefit managers (PBM) are to blame. FTC alleges that PBMs have leveraged their economic power to rig pharmaceutical supply chain to their favors. They also created a “perverse drug rebate system” leading to price gauging practice.

In Dec 2024, American Pharmacist Association announced that a PBM bill, H.R. 9096 - Pharmacists Fight Back Act was stalled in the 118th Congress. Unfortunately, it is back to the drawing board for those fighting for PBM reform.
