I just gave 45 minutes of my time, at no charge, to coach someone who wants to be a real estate investor. In her world, living in a mobile home, she has been told by numerous friends and family that she will never be a real estate investor, or be rich by any means.
Yes, she has some roadblocks, but no one should ever be told they will not be something they want to be!
I asked her who told her this, and she said it was close family. I then asked if they were millionaires, and of course they were not!
My advice to her, and to you, is whenever someone advises you on finances, your next question should be, "Are you a millionaire?". If they say "no", then thank them for telling you exactly what not to do!
Also, when someone tells you that you can't do "a thing", just smile and say, "just because you think you can't, or are too scared to try, doesn't mean I can't".
And finally, when you make it, and you reach your goals, offer to buy them dinner at a fancy steakhouse. When they say, "It must be nice," you say, "It sure is!"
