After almost two years of waiting, Madeline finally had her surgery to shrink her tonsils and adenoids so she could breathe easier. What was supposed to be a relief quickly became one of the most terrifying moments of our lives.
Because of her weak muscle tone, anesthesia took a dangerous toll. Her little body struggled to breathe on its own, often stopping completely. Her lungs began to deflate, her oxygen dropped to terrifyingly low levels, and we watched her tiny body fight harder than it ever should have to. She was rushed to the ICU - for the third time in her short life. I can’t even put into words how helpless and scared we felt in those hours.
But then, in what can only be described as a miracle, she turned around. The doctors and nurses who cared for her were truly angels, a godsend in our darkest moment. They acted quickly, and gave us hope when we felt none. We will forever be grateful for them.
To all of you who prayed, sent thoughts, and held our family in your hearts - thank you. You carried us through one of the scariest chapters of our lives, and we are so grateful Madeline is now healing, and finally able to breathe. 💕
