Celebrating my recent business birthday! 🥳

I spent years thinking of possible businesses I could set up before eventually retraining in strategic social media marketing.

I feel very grateful to have a job I love which is flexible enough that I can always be there for my two boys.

Looking to come back from a summer break with a bang?!💥

The next Surrey Social is taking place 10am-12pm on Friday 12 September at the Coppa Club on the High Street in Guildford.

There’s something so invigorating about being in a room with other business owners. There’s an energy and connection which sparks around the room ✨

Not only is it a great opportunity to meet others but could lead to exciting new collaboration opportunities. A couple of businesses who met at the first Surrey Social and went on to work together at a business retreat.

Professional photographs will be taken by Nicola Light Photography and distributed after the event for you to use.

‘Will you know anyone going to Atomicon?’ The answer: yes and no…

It was such a pleasure to get to meet those I’ve only known virtually, in the actual flesh! Also listening to those I’ve long admired share their wisdom on stage. What a treat.

All hosted at the gorgeous The Glasshouse International Centre for Music in Newcastle. Everything if so super inclusive and accessible, it honestly doesn’t matter if you come along not knowing anyone. You’ll instantly feel at home.

Andrew & Pete do a great job pre Atomicon of letting everyone get to know each other: There’s a Facebook group where you can ask questions and info is shared. Frequent email updates. An all singing and dancing app. There’s an excellent big online networking week, etc.

Half the tickets for Atomicon 2026 have sold already and are currently 70% off until Friday!

Edits - the free video creation/editing app from Instagram has just launched.

Here are the initial pros and cons so far…

PROS:

❤️ Loving the Ideas tab which has a great new feature - stickies (virtual post it notes) which you can use to write notes to yourself and they can be added to reels you save with reminders etc!

❤️ Projects tab - keeps drafts of reels even after posting. Great if you want to re-edit and repurpose

❤️ Great new range of fonts to add to videos created

❤️ Enhanced video editing in Timeline compared to the native Instagram reels editor

❤️ Inspiration tab - discover trending audio and reels (save and add stickies)

❤️ Saved reels from your Instagram are imported and found in the Ideas tab

❤️ Cutout AI feature is super handy to make more attention grabbing reels (I’ve used it on this reel - it exports the video of me and overlays)

❤️ It’s currently free (although I don’t see them charging)

❤️ You can export videos created directly into Instagram reels or save to camera roll without a watermark

CONS:

🤨 Green screen feature will be great but not currently working (sure it’s just a glitch)

🤨 No templates - why not? Missing a trick

🤨 No scheduling - although can export to Instagram and schedule from there

🤨 Can’t currently see that you can toggle between different accounts in Edits, like you can in Instagram

🤨 Work in progress - new features will be rolling out later this year, including new transition options and new movie AI generation tools

I think I’ll hold onto my InShot account for a while longer but will definitely be using Edits and am keen to see how useful it is as it develops further.

I’d love to know if you’ve tried it yet and what you think of it!
