Fourth Dimension Records Fourth Dimension Records was founded in 1983. It is operated by Richard Johnson (a.k.a. PLEASE DO NOT SEND DEMOS. THANK YOU. OUR SCHEDULE IS FULL.

Richo) of Lumberton Trading Company, Theme, Splintered, Grim Humour, Adverse Effect, etc. Record label run by Richo since 1983 that began as a subsidiary of Gary Levermore's Third Mind Records. Following a short succession of cassettes and flexidiscs, often affiliated with Grim Humour 'zine, it has been responsible for records and CDs over the years by Circle, Ascension, KK Null, Hijokaidan, JFK,

Splintered, Tabata Mitsuru, Thurston Moore, Delphium, Con Demek, Stefan Jaworzyn, Theme, Omit, Stylus, AMP Studio, Merzbow, Shifts, Zsolt Sores, Cindytalk, Rake, Sweet Tooth, Sion Orgon, Mahler Haze and far more besides.

Zoviet France's entry in the upcoming Lumberton Trading Company 6 x LP subscription series will be a double-LP called 'EditQuartet', which is something of a 'lost' album from the late '90s with music originally commissioned for a production of the same name by acclaimed contemporary dance group (Nye) Carte Blanche, from Norway. The album was supposed to follow 1996's 'Digilogue', on Soleilmoon Recordings, but got sidelined like so many of these things. Very happy about this anyway. Each entry in the series will be limited to 150. Zoviet France join irr.App.[Ext.], Nick Mott, Bass Communion, Andrew Liles and Reverse Image and the albums will together form a set only available through the subscription. The name of the series is definitely not to be taken seriously either. I am keeping the quantity to a pragmatic level.

There are two options to take out the subscription, too. All of the albums feature exclusive material. The price might seem high but works out at 22.50 GBP per record + 10.00 GBP shipping, which is pretty reasonable I think.

The first entry in the series will be Andrew Liles' 'To Arrive at Nowhere' LP, expected towards the year's end.

Please note that by the time royalty copies, etc. have gone out there will be an average of 120 left to purchase through the subscription. Orders are starting to come in fast, so don't hang around if interested.

Lumberton Trading Company 'Elite Editions' Subscription Series of 6 x LPs PRE-ORDER_____________________________________...

Lumberton Trading Company 'Elite Editions' Subscription Series of 6 x LPs PRE-ORDER
_______________________________________________________

Please note the price includes shipping on all six albums.

Launching before the year’s end is a new series of six limited edition LPs on Lumberton Trading Company by a diverse selection of artists known for producing work of an often abstract and atmospheric nature and/or within those areas of music where anything can happen at any moment. A few of these artists have appeared on LTCo and/or its sister label Fourth Dimension Records before while the others have long been on our radar.

Each LP will be limited to 150 and arrive in a sleeve that binds the series together without imposing too heavily on the artist’s own visual presentation and/or artwork ideas.

There will be no repress or CD version of the series. The individual artists might well make their material available on other platforms or reissue it (elsewhere) later but the series itself is a strict one-off.

There are several ideas behind this series but one of the main drivers is our thinking of different ways to keep the label(s) going in increasingly difficult times while simultaneously wanting to continue promoting the work of artists who are new, obscure or simply less familiar. Through subscribing to the series it is hoped you will be introduced to an artist or two previously unknown to you whose work you will enjoy as much as the others in the series. In this sense it operates much the same way as the subscription series of both 7”s and 10”s Fourth Dimension Records did in the 1990s. Unlike those, however, these LPs are far more limited and will be only available via the subscription besides those the artists themselves will also get.

Due to this being quite expensive for the average person, there are two options presently available to subscribe. The second one is based on a split-payment option and can be found elsewhere in the shop.

The artists in the series are (in no particular order):

Andrew Liles
Reverse Image
Bass Communion
irr.App.[Ext.]
Nick Mott
Zoviet France*

*This will be a 2LP in a gatefold sleeve.

Some of the LPs will also arrive with an insert or postcard, or both. If practical, some might even be signed.

This is a great way to support what we do at the label and, indeed, support the work of the artists.

The first LP in the series will be by Andrew Liles with 'To Arrive at Nowhere'. This should be ready for production in November 2025.

Had a discussion for the YT channel with Nick Hamilton of the Horn of Plenty label and Central Bazaar distribution & mail order a couple of days ago. If you are not familiar with the HoP label, it has over the past few years been responsible for bringing out albums by The Apostles, Eyes of the Araryllis, Warm Currency, Germ Lattice, Little Skull, Idea Fire Company and many others. Great label but, like most of us, presently facing huge difficulties in these turbulent times. We touch on this somewhat here.

Nick Hamilton has been running the Horn of Plenty label since 2018, bringing out releases by an incredible array of artists mostly emanating from that murky ...

Shipping now! The new Fallen Sun 'Parallel Disalignment' CD on Fourth Dimension Records. If you enjoy dynamic and blistering noise that avoids all the usual traps, you need this!
______________________________________________________

Since Fallen Sun’s debut CD, 'Beyond the Flat Earth', which appeared on Fourth Dimension Records in 2024, there have been rare live appearances and collaborative releases by this solo project of Malaysian electronic artist, Y’ng-Yin Siew. She has also released a few albums under the name, Reverse Image, which is a comparatively sedate project given to more atmospheric sounds yet no less metamorphic or unsettled because of that.

Fallen Sun, as the name itself alludes to, is a rather more intense and explosive affair, however. As with the debut, the sonics are jagged and abrasive as they collide into each other or assume meta-rhythmic forms which flutter violently into torrents of searing lava that are utterly unforgiving as they burn into the very being of the listener. Formed from a pedal noise set-up with the exception of one track which was created with Eurorack, the seven pieces successfully apply new meaning to a genre that’s already gone a long way since the likes of Incapacitants, Merzbow and Masonna helped render it as one to be considered seriously. While it is true that such music (and, please, let’s consider it thus) first mapped itself via the likes of Whitehouse, Non, Ramleh, SPK, Consumer Electronics and so on, or even arguably Lou Reed’s 'Metal Machine Music' album, its reach has traversed far and wide over the decades since, both globally and with respect to an understanding of composition from more academic masters such as Xenakis.

To that end, 'Parallel Disalignment' presents the perfect title to an album grand in its quest to reach beyond something it might be seen as being part of. Besides the dynamic interplay at work throughout it, often cut with an edge which at first appears as hostile as it is impenetrable, there’s something almost uncontrollably joyous to behold. This is evident on the collaborative piece, ‘Session 46’, which witnesses the deployment of birdsong by Peter Wullen to help counter the overtly incendiary nature of the proceedings with sounds more organic or celebratory.

To end everything, there’s a lengthy track taken from a live appearance at the Negative Frequencies show in Malaysia whereby everything is so powerful you can picture yourself being washed over in this assault of merciless cadences right there in the venue itself. It’s like being showered in razor blades whilst grinning from ear to ear and, ultimately, proof positive that Fallen Sun is a force to be reckoned with in this setting.

Limited to 300.

Released late August 2025.

In production now...

Michael Cashmore 'The Ninth Circle Beyond the Sun' CD (Lumberton Trading Company)
--------------------------------------------------------
The latest album from Michael Cashmore (formerly of Current 93 plus known for his work as Nature and Organisation and in many collaborations) collects ten pieces which, as with the previous album, 'Until the End of Vibration', released by Lumberton Trading Company, draw from that magical place where crepuscular and moody soundtrack work converges with the kind of synth lines Tangerine Dream made a name for themselves with. Along the way, there are piano-led melodic swells, a couple of surprisingly serrated edges and sparingly used percussion veering between the bombastic and more emotionally charged. Between each of the compositions, there’s an overarching sense of sadness or resignation while carefully woven refrains point to the simple beauty one derives from staring at a night sky or the sun’s rise or setting over a serene sea apparently untouched by man.

Sophisticated yet unostentatious, this is music that’s bold, minimal and utterly deserving of the attention of the film that will doubtlessly play out in your head as you lock yourself in to everything it promises. While we await the day when Michael’s work is hopefully accorded the recognition of the cinematic treatment it deserves, we can at least satisfy ourselves with everything he is producing along the way.

The very fact he feels the most proud of 'The Ninth Circle Beyond the Sun', and each of the wonderful melodic signatures it is infused with, says absolutely everything.

Limited to 300. Out in September 2025.

Pleased to announce that Richard Youngs will be doing a follow up LP to the already sold out 'Zerkelus' LP. Called 'Zulaqrex', it will likewise feature two side-long pieces (and although somewhat different to the pieces that formed 'Zerkelus', both are amazing!) and be limited once again to 150 copies. As noted here yesterday, am presently contemplating a series of 6 x LPs each similarly limited (for no other reason than the fact they enable faster turnaround and I'm not stuck with stock a year or two later that I cannot move) and able to be subscribed to. Still definitely at the 'consideration' stage, though. Either way, 'Zulaqrex' won't be part of this series. News/pre-order information soon!

Another YT upload, this time yammering about the new Theme CD, 'Meditations on Space, Volume One', as well as other releases by Alternative TV, One Leg One Eye, Robert Turman & Tom Smith, Mapura Music and Mark Pritchard w/Thom Yorke. The latest Theme album is our best work yet. You can get it as part of the ongoing 7 x CD deal, though. If you go for this, you'll also receive the upcoming Kleistwahr 2CD and new albums from Michael Cashmore and Fallen Sun, amongst others. You can also start the deal from the Alternative TV 'Direct Action' special edition CD or Reverse Image 'Towards the Nocturnal Sun' CD if you wish!

This new Kleistwahr 2CD set of 'Winter' and 'Music for Zeitgeist Fighters' on Fourth Dimension Records should be here in a week or two. Only 300 of these. Seems like Kleistwahr titles are going quite well here these days. Only have a handful each of 'For the Lives Once Lived' CDs and 'Down But Defiant Yet'/'Acceptance is Not Respect' 2LPs left. Everything else has sold out from me, plus my main distributor Cargo Records has no stock left to return. While these 2CDs will be available from a number of places I always appreciate direct orders as I am the one paying the bills and these are not cheap to produce!

You can also get this 2CD as part of a 7 x CD deal beginning with titles by Reverse Image, Alternative TV and Theme if you prefer. The 2CD counts as one title, too! An absolute steal! If interested, only 37.50 GBP + postage to:

Reposting the latest uploads on the Fourth Dimension YT channel. Have said this already, but hoping to do more regular vids and add more content. Already had some new CD and vinyl releases land since these were done. Also seems as though the amount of subscribers is steadily growing, even if the 'like' button is barely hit!

You can also find snippets and samples of music from label releases by Theme, EXTNDDNTWRK, Kleistwahr, Fallen Sun, Michael Cashmore, Splintered, Edward Ka-Spel and others!
