Overcharging of Bread by Kashmiri Bread Makers "Kander"

The Issue of Kashmiri bread makers ("kander") remain in lime light as wanted to increase the price of their traditional bread from Rs 5 to Rs 10.The bread makers cited rising costs of ingredients (flour, fuel, etc.) as the reason for need to increase prices.
The government negotiated a compromise, setting the new price at Rs 7 for a 48-gram loaf.Though the new devised rate of bread , price change has affected the daily budgets of Kashmiri residents, for whom this bread is a staple food. But in violation to government directive, many kashmiri bread makers have started making a bread of Rs 7 with under weight and created a situation where a compromise agreement is not being honored, and it's the consumer who suffers.

Despite the government-negotiated price of Rs 7 for a 48-gram loaf of bread, many Kashmiri bread makers are now selling the same weight of bread for Rs 10. This is a direct violation of the agreed-upon price.
Many complaints have been received from Main town Budgam that the bread makers of the town are making a bread of Rs 10 instead of Rs 7 ,which might be due to insufficient monitoring or enforcement of the government-mandated price, allowing bakers to get away with overcharging said the locals of Budgam town.

This disregard for the agreed-upon price places a significant burden on consumers, especially those from lower-income households. Bread is a staple food in Kashmir, and such a price hike can disrupt their daily budgets.
Many locals have started making breads in their homes to overcome the new rate violation of bread makers to Rs 10 per loaf but that is not the alternative of this violation, The government needs to take swift and decisive action to enforce the agreed-upon price by Regular inspections of bakeries to ensure compliance, Imposing fines or other penalties on bakers who overcharge and educating consumers about the correct price and their rights can also play a key role.

It's crucial situation and government must address this issue promptly to protect the interests of consumers and maintain stability in the market for essential goods and take appropriate action against the violators of Main town Budgam.
