BRAVURA, The Literary Journal of Palomar College

THE DEADLINE IS FAST APPROACHING! You have only until March 15th to submit your work to the Bravura Journal to get published!

Submission Requirements

Prose:
Short fiction and creative non-fiction pieces are accepted! The work must be no more than 5,000 words and submitted in the form of a word doc or PDF file. You may submit up to 5 individual Prose pieces for consideration.

Poetry:
Poetry in all forms is welcome! This includes spoken-word poems or even song lyrics. Please submit your work in the form of a word doc or PDF file. You may submit up to 5 individual poems for consideration.

Visual Arts:
Photography, paintings, graphic design, illustrations, mixed media, comics, etc. Fashion design, woodworking, metalworking, anything creative that you have made/designed is welcome. Since it is a journal, we will need an image or images of your project. All visual submissions must be in JPEG or PDF formats and should be at least 300dpi. You may submit up to 10 individual images for consideration.

Submission Instructions

If you are a Palomar Student or Alumna:
You can email your submission(s) to [email protected]
With your submission, be sure to also include:
Your contact info (preferred email) and your full name
A brief bio of 50 words or less (for an example of a bio, refer to bravurajournal.org or previous editions of Bravura)
The title of each submission (multiple submissions can be sent in the same email)
Your relationship to Palomar (ex. Alumni [year(s) attended], Current Student, etc.)
Make sure the attached files submitted are labeled as: [Your Name]: [Title of Work]

If you are a High School Student:
You can email your submission(s) to [email protected]
With your submission, be sure to also include:
The title of each submission and your full name
The name of your High School and your grade level
A brief bio of 50 words or less (for an example of a bio, refer to bravurajournal.org or previous editions of Bravura)
Make sure the attached files submitted are labeled as: [Your Name]: [Title of Work]

In 2025, Bravura achieved 3rd place in Community College Humanities Association’s Literary Magazine Competition award for Best Magazine. The content of the winning edition was made by people like YOU.

PLEASE READ IF YOU WOULD LIKE TO SUBMIT A COVER
Bravura is looking for this year’s cover art, and if you’re interested, we only have a few requirements. :)
- Designs must be made in landscape orientation (8 x 10.5 inch dimensions)
- The design must have “Bravura 2026” present in it
- Your submission deadline is March 15th, 2026 (send to [email protected])
