When Originality Isn’t Respected—Even in Your Own Town
A while back, I opened up about how painful it is when original ideas are taken without acknowledgment. That post wasn’t vague—it was real. And shortly after, someone reached out, apologized, and admitted guilt. I responded with grace. I accepted the apology. I set boundaries.
But here we are again.
Another one of my original ideas has been taken—again—with no credit, no acknowledgment. And this isn’t coming from a stranger on the internet. It’s coming from a fellow business right here in our small town.
That’s what makes it even more heartbreaking.
This is a tight-knit community where small businesses should be supporting one another—not borrowing from each other’s creativity and claiming it as their own. When you know the person, when you follow their work, when you live in the same town—it’s not just imitation. It’s disrespect.
Yes, I’ve blocked this account. Not out of drama—but out of self-protection. It still hurts. It still triggers. But I’m choosing peace over pettiness.
To my fellow creators: be inspired, but be honest.
Give credit. Celebrate the ones who came before you. If you’re building something based on someone else’s vision, acknowledge it. In a small town, word spreads—but integrity speaks louder.
I’ll keep creating from the heart—because that’s what sets Krafty Koz apart. And to those who continue to support originality: thank you. You make this small-town hustle worth it.
