Article 75(2), Explained:
Under Article 75(2) of the Indian Constitution, Union Ministers hold office “during the pleasure of the President.” In practice, this means the Prime Minister can advise the President to appoint or remove ministers, making ministerial resignations a matter of political and constitutional accountability.
A minister resigned. A movement celebrated. A new minister was appointed.
Victory? Accountability? Or just how parliamentary democracy works?
Sometimes the biggest political story isn’t who leaves—it’s who gets to choose who comes next.
