Today we're celebrating a remarkable milestone, the retirement of Captain Mike Boyd after thirty years of service to the Marion Fire Department. Captain Boyd started his career here in 1995, but his firefighting career began even earlier, serving the city of Herrin Illinois from 1991 to 1995. Prior to his career in the Fire service, Mike served in the United States Navy for 4 years. Please join us in thanking Captain Boyd for his incredible service, infectious smile, and wonderful attitude. We will never forget the impact you made at the Marion Fire Department.

Gray Media, Inc. (Gray) announced on Friday, August 8, it has reached an agreement to purchase 10 television stations from Byron Allen’s Allen Media Group, Inc. (AMG) for $171 million.

FINAL SHOW: This one hits me a little personally. The AMC Illinois Centre 8 theater in Marion has ceased operations. My hometown movie theater where I have literally seen hundreds of movies with family and friends is now closed after over 32 years.

So many good memories!

The AMC Theater in Marion will permanently close its doors on Thursday.

BREAKING: 20-year-old Killian Swan is a suspect in a Johnston City death investigation. Swan was originally a person of interest after a 44-year-old man was found dead from a gunshot wound at a home on Pine Avenue.

Swan has NOT been charged with murder. He has only been charged with Aggravated Battery/Discharge of a firearm. The next steps with charges will come from the Williamson County State's Attorney.

This comes within 24 hours of Quinn Laird announcing that he is running for Williamson County Sheriff.

Laird is a Herrin native and former Herrin Police Chief.

The Herrin Police Department is firing back after Williamson County Sheriff Jeff Diederich announced he was placing more deputies in Herrin to help tackle crime.
